The Central Great Underground Prison is a relic from the Gotei 13. It was often where Shinigami who broke the laws of the Soul Society were and still are sent to from time to time.

The Central Great Underground Prison are made up of different eight levels. Most of these were determined by the than which Central 46 which had decided where the criminal Shinigami would be restricted, depending on the severity of his or her violations. The prison is found beneath the barracks of the First Division
