Artist: Aion OST - Song: Song of Moonlight - Word Count: 481

Lydia finally arrived home after being stuck in the forest late at night to find everything was just as she'd left it. Again, Nix wasn't home yet. It had been a few months since she last saw him, and moments like this happened every day, whether she'd admit it or not. She'd come home, check to see if Nix was here, then convince herself that she wasn't checking for him, and that she just was looking to see if any ghosts moved anything around in the house or anything like that.

Today she had invited a few of the people she met earlier in the day to a late night party. She didn't really expect them to come, given that most of them were strangers.

For this reason, she set all the groceries in the fridge, and refused to cook anything just yet, even though her guests were supposed to arrive fairly soon. Plopping down in Nix's bed, as she always did whenever he was gone for long periods of time, she snuggled up close to his pillow. It barely smelled like him anymore. When she was alone like this, she might just be able to accept her feelings... but.. honestly, she was afraid to. Afraid of accepting how she felt and then depending on someone... She... The last time she had opened up to someone... cared for them.. they tried to kill her.

Not to say Lydia thought Nix would ever do anything to hurt her, but she really couldn't chance it. She cared for someone, and she paid the price. Just plain bad luck, she supposed. If anything had been different, maybe she and Nix could have had a normal life together, but these days, she just slept in his room and tried her hardest to ignore the fact that she missed him. Tried to ignore it by collecting small stamps... by looking for ghosts... just always ignored it. Perhaps it was time Lydia finally faced herself.

But today, as with any other day, Nix was not home. Nor could she expect him to just walk through the door, greet her and tell her he loves her or something. That would be a surprise.

Still, Lydia couldn't shake the feeling it would be a surprise she would enjoy quite a bit.

Realizing she was thinking too much about Nix, she immediately went to go cook the food. Maybe forget about him, at least while her guests were here. Tonight, she would just enjoy herself with the girls. Well, mostly girls. A few of them were special cases, like Eva or Nix...

There went that name again. It was almost like she couldn't go a second without thinking of him. Lydia blushed deeply as she stirred the rice in the pan. They were having homemade chinese. Sweet and Sour chicken and rice. Sweet... but also sour... That was how she felt.

THE VAGABOND

JESSICA DELACROIX

ARTIST: MIRACLE OF SOUND - SONG: LADY OF WORLDS - Words: 543

Jessica herself had gotten lost. She couldn't believe it! Her, someone who wandered the woods for damn near sixty years, lost her way! It was a foolish thought, she said to herself, walking beside the unreasonably silent figure. The small girl seemed to be deep in thought, Jessica observed, and silently blessing the silence, kept her own as well. The forest had brighten up considerably, as they were walking for quite a while before finally emerging in front of a large building. She rode up with Lydia to the eighty-third floor, and watched as the girl walked inside, performing all kinds of tasks before disappearing for some time.

Jessica walked in, after a while. She took the liberty of inspecting the floor, the other... doors, and assessing possible escape routes, should any sort of need for them occur. Then, with a sigh, she walked into the place, sitting down in some random old chair, and took a glance around her surroundings. It had been a while since she was actually inside a building, an odd passing thought said, as Jessica mused over this fact. She was brought back to reality by the green-haired girl walking back into the room, which apparently seemed to be the kitchen, then beginning to start some food.

Jessica had no real mind for food. She could cook well enough to get herself by in the wild, but that was about it. The food she made was passable, certainly not good, and perish the thought of it ever being great. That stereotype about women being great chefs? False. Jessica proved it simply by existing. That was the reason she did not comment on the fact that fried rice was being prepared with sweet/sour chicken, nor had any other interest in it before it was finished. The girl still seemed to be quiet, so Jessica saw no reason to change her own disposition, as she soundlessly stood and inspected the rest of the home.

It was nice, she thought, being back in civilization. There were many amenities that were brought to reality that had been lacking since she was gone. Technology advanced at a staggering pace, and there were many times a kind passing tech-head took time out of their busy day going this way and that to assist her -- even for a moment. Much time of her own had been prevented from being wasted thanks to that. And it was nice as well to not be stared at wherever she went. Acceptance must have gone up while she was gone, too.

The dining room was better furnished than the kitchen. Spices that could be placed on your food after it was finished were on the table, and it was covered with a cloth that vaguely resembled flowers. Flowers... Flowers were definitely nice. Smelled nice, felt nice, and looked nice. Why was she thinking about flowers?

Jessica glanced back to the kitchen, then shrugged. Her footsteps, having long since lost the noise they made, padded quietly throughout the place. There were occasional creaks, which was to be expected in a place this large, and eventually settled in the living room after checking out any room with an open door. The chair she sat upon was nice, too. Why was she still thinking about nice?
