Mirja, The Masterless Pet

Far into the woods - by children's reckoning, at least - stood a house. Large, and magnificent, this house was alone, but was a bastion against the Wood, a brilliant fortress where the mighty lived and plotted against those who would dwell within the woods against their decree that none would ever be in this wood for more than a single sun's light. To go to the house would be to invite the creature within to come and gobble you up with one bite. Mirja was intreged when she heard about this rumour, and so decided to look for the house. And amazingly, she actually found it as well. Very old fashioned, made from brick and morter, and clearly showing it's age, Mirja thought it was quite the enigma.

And then, she got closer, and saw that it was dirty as hell. The windows needed a hell of a polish, the roof needed a giant duster going over it, and the lawn demanded some sort of overgrown sheers, to make it less like something you would find small monsters in, and more respectable. Mirja wondered if anyone even lived in the house still. If they did, the cared nothing for matinence, and it was really rubbing her Maid mentality the wrong way. Sure she had only done that for Arianda, and then only for a short while, but she still wanted to clean it up.

So, heading through the grass to the door, she made sure the wood wasn't rotten or dilapidated and then - when she was confident the door wouldn't split in two if she so much as breathed on it - she rapped sharply on the wood. The noise echoed through the woods, and probably through the house as well. Any inhabitant within, espeically a monster that liked to gobble, would certainly be able to hear it, and hopefully they would come to see. Mirja's curiosity was reaching it's peak as to what might be inside.
