Standing at 5”0’ Tanken is shorter then most people his body still maintained the young age of seventeen and his body it’s self is small and sleek, and it gives him a look which makes him seem youthful. His eyes are a pale green which seems to match his oddly colored hair.

Under most circumstances he wares a shinigami uniform, which is more reminiscent of the second divisions outfit. As it holds closely to his body and form. His Zanpakuto, which is usually the size of a dagger, is hidden in his robes its sheath is strapped to the inside of his shirt.

On incidents where Tanken is using a gigai his clothing is casual and street friendly. With brown cargo pants that are made of a thin light material, and a small white muscle shirt underneath a green vest that like the cargo pants has several pockets to carry everything he would need. As with his shinigami uniform His Zanpakuto is attacked to the inside of his jacket.

P E R S O N A L I T Y

Personality: A former thief Tanken’s mind is just as nimble as his body. He is quickly able to come up with one-liners for almost any situation and often enjoys making fun of those he spars with. He is a man who is light hearted and has few cares. Ever since he joined the Shinigami his life has made grand improvements so he is more often then not happy.

Tanken has since become a healer choosing a path that would allow him to give back to the soul society. Even though he is better suited for war and fighting Tanken does his best work when he is healing others, and its one of the only jobs he actually feels proud of. He wants to help others and often finds himself acting as a doctor and therapist to others.

Tanken has taken the idea’s of the fourth squad to heart in that they heal everyone. He has never turned down a patient, but there are times when some can’t be saved. He hasn’t forgotten his days as a thief and although he hates violence, he is not afraid of it, and when it comes to those who are dead set too harm others he will not hesitate to fight.

Killing is not part of his job however, and it’s a line he would have a very hard time accepting. Although he will stop someone who is trying to harm others, Tanken can’t bring himself to execute, in the end he is a doctor and protecting life is the most important part of that job, not killing.

B A C K G R O U N D

History/Background: Born to a small family of farmers there was always work to do growing up. Hard work always came with a reward, and growing up on the farm with 2 brothers and his parents he knew he was loved. It was a simple but not always easy life and it conditioned Tanken to a life of hard work.

Out of his family he was the middle child, but he and his brothers shared in the work equally. When they didn’t work one of their favorite hobbies was sparing. They never really fought to hurt one another though accidents did happen Tanken and his brothers were more focused on play fighting.

Tanken lived this life for 17 years until an accident in the barn caused the farm to catch fire during one very dry summer. The old wood building went up in a cloud of smoke, and although it seemed everyone had gotten out safely at first Tanken was the first to notice that the youngest of his brothers was missing. Not thinking he dived back into the burning building and found his brother among the thick flames. In the last moments of his life he managed to throw his brother out of the house, but the effort exhausted him as his lungs filled with smoke he found he couldn’t breath. And although freedom from the flames seemed so close Tanken didn’t have the energy to get out before the barn gave way and collapsed on top of him.

Content with the way he lived his life his soul found its way to the afterlife, and he awoke free from the flames that had engulfed him. His lungs full of fresh air he felt alive once more, but the afterlife can be a cruel life, and Tanken found himself in rukongai district 80 the most impoverished place in soul society and it didn’t take him long to learn that poverty also meant crime ridden.

It didn’t take Tanken long to learn that this place was a difficult one to survive in, as he found himself being attacked almost right off the bat, but thankfully he was saved by a small group of teenagers, who like him had found themselves in this area of soul society. Tanken was quickly adopted by the group, and taught how to survive on the streets.

He learned the skills that were needed quickly. Thievery was the first thing he learned, before he had never gone hungry in his life, but when he went to the soul society he often spent days starving away. Learning how to aquire food when no one was looking was an important task, and the next one he had to learn was how to get away if he was caught. Often he found that he needed to be fast on his feet, and for those that did manage to catch him the third lesson was how to defend himself, and this was around the time he started carrying a dagger with him at all times.

The dager its self was something he had stolen from an older man. It was simple and plain but when it came to a fight it was a useful weapon he stitched its sheath into his own clothing so that the dagger would always be close to him.

During this time of his Tanken stole he lied and even hurt people, but during the entire time he wanted out. He wanted some other way to live, and he would have done anything for that chance, and then the day came when he got his wish.

Tanken had often heard of the shinigami, but he had never seen one, and to see a recruiter this far away from the seireitei it was his chance for freedom, and he took it tracking down the shinigami he followed her, and she knew it. The shinigami tested him seeing if he could keep up with her speed and track her movements threw the rukongai. Some how Tanken managed to find her and track her down, and when she confronted him he confessed to every single one of his crimes and then asked if it was possible for him to sign up with the shinigami too see if he could try and make amends.

Having already passed the shinigami’s test she shrugged and took him to the academy. Enrolling him into the academy with her personal recommendation. Tanken once again found himself in a life he could agree with. Hard work for good gain, Tanken spent six years within the walls of the academy practicing everything and learning as much as he could, and although he was much better suited for the second or eleventh squad Tanken chose his squad quickly.

Enrolling himself into the fourth squad even though the healing arts were among the worst grades he had. Tanken chose the life of a healer so that he could repay society for the damage he had caused. That said it was not an easy road for him to choose as the healing arts were among the weakest of his skills. More often then not Tanken found himself escorting other better healers into the field and using his skills to defend them as they worked.

It was during one of these missions that his shikai awoke. His team had gotten into an area where a group of 11th squad members had gone down and when his team had arrived hollows attacked them. It was nothing new but some of the healers that Tanken was escorting were newbie’s, and these hollows were not. Fighting as hard as he could all seemed lost, and for a moment he was stomped crushed beneath one of the hollows he felt his head go light.

He awoke among the company of two different spirits. Kori the logic and Inazuma the passion. The two spirits explained the situation that they were in the two spirits were a form of balance within Tanken and what was important was that his mind needed to be focused in order to summon the shikai. Sending him back, Tanken called out their names and achived shikai. Purifying the hollows he was able to save the lives of his team and the eleventh squad members. Dispite gaining offers from the ‘stronger’ squad Tanken turned them down deciding instead to stay a healer and focus on his own training even he wasn’t the best at it.

Zanpakutô Spirit Name: Kori and Inazuma

Kori is white with skin that seems reflect light and acts as well as feels like cold steel. His gaze is piercing as he perceives the world with an uncaring and sound logic. His personality can easily be considered cold as Ice nothing can be done without a logical need or some way that it benefits this spirit. As such Tanken finds that even though he can easily agree with the logic of this spirit they come at odds when ever they need to choose a coarse of actions.

Inazuma is black with skin and fur that seems to be much warmer and lively then Kori’s steel flesh. His mind is riddled with ADHD always seeking out the funnest solution to the problem. He would rather have an emotional impact and often thinks its best to wing it instead of coming up with any kind of an idea before hand. Tanken can often agree with these spirits feelings, but often has to disagree with its Idea’s, as such they come to arms when ever they need to decide something on a whim.

Inner World: Tanken’s inner world is a world of roving hills spreed out for as far as the eyes can see. The ground is almost never even always bumpy and elevated. The sky is a wide open blue and clouds are uncommon. The sun is always above them, as both Kori and Inazuma enjoy basking in the hot air of a summers day.

Sealed Zanpakutô : a small strait edge wakazashi called a Tanto. With a blade of 6 inches long its handle is wooden and the strait blade make it a prefect weapon for fighting in very close quarters. Its sheath is stitched into his uniform for easy access.

Shikai Description: Tanken Dorobo 60443

Above is the basic idea of what the weapons look like the main difference is the chain is much longer. The chain can expand and contract more or less at will but it seems the max length is limited only by the amount of rietsu Tanken has at that moment as the more exhausted he is the less the chain can seem to grow.

Shikai Abilities:
Chains: the chain extends and retracts to almost any length Tenken doesn’t have a full grasp of how long the chain can grow but it seems to be limited only by his energy. As long as he at full strength the full length of the chain seems to be past 20 meters, but when he is exhausted and tiered he would be lucky to get out 3 meters of chain length.

Freeze: the left hook has an aura of blue fire at almost all times. The rare exception to this is when Tanken is too tiered to project the attack. When this hook sinks into the flesh of the enemy it immediately has the effect that the wound will begin to freeze. The blue fire is fire only instead of burning heat it burns cold, and coming in contact with it will cause any flesh to be frozen.

Lower tiers will feel the fire sink into their flesh and feel the numbness of the ice as it spreads over their wound preventing regeneration as the blood and wound freeze over. Higher tiers of more then 1 will feel the cold, but the actual freezing won’t occur, and regeneration will not be halted.

Shok: the right hook is electrified and can be used to administer a powerful jolt of electricity to the opponent. For this to happen the hook does not need to actually draw blood but rather just needs to hit the flesh of a target, as the electrical current will jump from the hook too the target.

Lower tiers would likely feel there muscles cramp, as they are jolted with a heavy charge of electricity. If the hook sinks into there body it will likely cause intense pain and burn flesh, if it strikes a limb the limb may go numb and immobile for 2 posts. Higher tier by 1 can shrug off the numbness.

Combination strike: by sinking in both the left and right hooks into some ones body he can perform a powerful one two punch first by freezing over the wounds of an opponent, and then by shocking him\her with enough force to shatter the ice and burn them. it’s a powerful attack that damadges the organs of an opponent.

A lower tier character will be hurt by this technique taking on both the effects of freeze and shock. Any regeneration will be halted for 3 posts due to the severity of the damadge. And any limbs that the blades struck will go numb and immobile for 3 posts. A higher tier will feel the pain but have none of the side effects.

Roleplay Sample: “Kill!”the command didn't need a second bidding as a large burst of red energy burned away a small group of man hunters, revealing Dex Starr. The red Lantern had returned to earth to carry out his own agenda or so he thought however when he had gotten here the cat had quickly spotted the man hunters, a hated enemy of the red lantern corp. Along with the green lanterns naturally the cat wanted to boil all of them but had been stopped when he had recived his orders from atrocitus. It seemed that the Red lantern was to wipe the man hunters off the face of the earth and then he could do as he pleased when it came to the green lanterns. Untill then the red lantern had to 'work with them'

Dex Starr hated the idea of working with humans after all that had happened. However since earth was as much his planet as theirs and since he had his own busness even a cat could tell what needed to happen. He Hissed letting loose another volley of energized flames.“Vengeance”

The red lantern would carry out his orders after all the man hunters had harmed the red lantern core, it had harmed Atrocitus and that made them an enemy. Any enemy of the red lantern core would burn, that was there fate. The cat purred as it entered into the real fight clawing out at the man hunters. The red energy that surrounded him shielding him as he attacked. He would burn them from the face of the earth as ordered after all he was a good kitty.
