The Silent Kuchiki

Takehiko Kuchiki

Takehiko had finally gotten away again from Jezebel and Tanaka. Absurd training making his way through Asia. He'd finally found someone to let some steam out. Someone had challenged him to a duel of sorts. His eyes were hidden beneath his long hair. As nothing came out of him as the demonic being challenged him. A remnant perhaps of the previous invasion near Karakura. Takehiko's knuckles began cracking under bandages he wore over them. This wasn't going to be a very pretty sight for this creature. Takehiko's mood was foul and he was beyond angry. Abigail the next Pestilence supposedly just left him there. No note, nothing everything was left without a word. Jezebel taunted him letting him know just how cozy she had it. Normally Takehiko was composed and a quiet rage bloomed beneath the surface. Even Akuma inside him opened one of his crimson orbs. Looking to Takehiko's form he shook his head left to right. "That demon's a goner, brother is very angry at the moment."

...You know...I try...so very...often..too not get...angry.." Takehiko's voice was deep and held a coldness to it. Reiatsu began bubbling around him crimson as he walked forward. "Ordinarily, I'd fix you...but today..I BREAK YOU!" Were the last words and a flash step came as he pointed his index finger upon the creature's skull. Pale Thrust one of his personal Hadō had completely killed the creature. Takehiko closed his eyes simmering quietly. He'd done something wrong in his anger, but the demon wanted a fight. And by god, he was ready to decapitate something. Inhaling he closed his eyes now. Abandoned to sleep with snakes and other strange practices of that family. Also being given the worst inheritance one could fathom. With a likelyhood, he would lose his place in the Gotei due to the nature of it. That was the beautiful blossoming gift the Unabara had given him. Uprooting everything he knew and understood for damn complex situations. If he could go see his uncle he would slap him three hundred times.

Tsubasa had left him such a mess to go through he didn't understand. Why couldn't someone else have taken a bit? But no Abigail drank some swill running away to miss the negative five-star resort that was the bloody Shack.

When the Levee Breaks 7L69wmz

Today was supposed to have been a nice day. Relax in the garden. Do a bit of shopping. Maybe flirt with that cute cashier down at the grocer's. Abigaíl had done two of those things, but sadly, she had the day off today, so instead, the brunette was filling her time with the natural beauty of the surrounding land.

However, her relaxing walk through the forest was interrupted by a sudden surge in reiatsu. Had she gotten a little too close to Soul Society territory? Did her own reiatsu leak out and alert someone to her presence. She didn't think so, on either part, but whatever it was that was nearby, it was angry. Very, very angry.

And familiar.

If the presence hadn't felt familiar to her, then maybe she'd have left for her own safety. That was not how things happened, though, and she vanished with a silent flash step in the direction of the reiatsu. Masking her presence as she had long ago been trained to do, she stopped just behind a tree, some fifty-odd meters away from the pair who were fighting.

She was not expecting to see Takehiko Kuchiki, of all people, here and fighting with a demon. Least of all, he was winning, and quite easily. Herself dressed in a light summer's top and jeans that Ulv had prepared for her, there was no disguising herself as a Shinigami on patrol, even if her zanpakutō hung from her waist.

So, this was War, huh?

The Silent Kuchiki

Takehiko Kuchiki

Takehiko's eyes closed slowly as he sniffed at the air. Smelling a scent that felt familiar within the distance. His body felt like hell having begun the process of further accessing Ruin's powers. This wasn't a simple merge but a blood manipulation within his body. Heightening his senses too far higher extents then people could imagine. His head turned a bit towards the tree. Takehiko was silent as he moved with a hoho vanishing. Beneath a gust of wind almost as though he'd done it before. Standing in front of Abigail as he looked at her. His azure eyes looked at her accusingly almost glaring. "Do you realize...that when I stuck up for you...I sealed my fate?" Takehiko pondering if she understood the gravity of her leaving him to rot there. "I know the argument, we just met I don't owe you anything." His voice came out as he tiredly stared at her wearily. Weary of the crap he'd been given over and over. Takehiko had normally been happy to embrace whatever came.

But everyone had limits of what they could take within them. Limits are damned if sleeping in snake-infested beds didn't do it. His iron will to never sub come to his temper and not lose it lost. Staring at her he frowned even more now as he didn't expect much. "So Jezebel decided to help with my training..Thanks for that by the way." His eyes accusing her and holding her accountable for every damn torture. Did she even realize the type of training these people did? His body had been altered from muscle definition to his hands tender feeling. Those hands were messed up from training. Punching a bolder for one thousand times. He'd broken his hand the first couple times and boy did healing suck at that point. The Unabara had some rather effective medicine as well. So broken bones mended in moments and pushed to continue. "I heard...Jezebel let me in the little secret. " Takehiko's eyes showed a ferocity and intensity in them now. That the timid boy once did not have as he stared at Abigail.

"I understand...being frightened of losing...to the beast inside.." Outstretching his hand a mask formed between his digits now. Revealing a samurai mask with two horns on the forehead. Glowing through a crimson and black mesh of reiatsu now. His eyes turning gold for a moment as he accessed those powers. His voice-changing to a hollow like one now raspy with a quality. "If you...are so frightened, why not ask for help...instead of running!?" Takehiko was beyond furious with her. For just running away and not even asking for help. She didn't bother to turn to those inside that place. She gave up everything to run away. Running away every time he thought about it pissed him off more. "Do..you know what pisses me off most?" His hand crushed the mask beneath his digits. This wasn't just her it hit a nerve very close to home for him. Something that Takehiko could only acknowledge at this point.

"You are just like I WAS!" Takehiko yelled out through his teeth not giving her a chance to speak. "Running, constantly running. Never TRUSTING people who I should... THE WORLD IS HEAVY, START TRUSTING PEOPLE OR YOU WILL BE SWALLOWED ALIVE!!!" He growled out as his final note to her his breathing began calming down. Takehiko had vented every last frustration with her here and now.

She had been certain her presence was masked. The Stealth Force had trained her well in that aspect, at least. Yet, the Kuchiki still sensed her, and sniffed the air briefly before appearing at her side with his own step. She took a cautious step back as he spoke.

"So..." Abigaíl smirked, to keep herself calm, if nothing else. The Kuchiki was upset with her specifically, by the sound of it, and if he was taking it out on others, then she didn't want to think what he might do to her. From the look of things, they were almost as strong as the other, but his movements were sloppy and unrefined. Still, a fight was the last thing she wanted right now, especially with how uneasy her relationship with her other half was at the moment.

"You want me to trust others? Trusting others is how I got to where I am today." She took another step back, and her fingers twitched ever so slightly towards the hilt of her blade. She was nervous, and it showed. "I am grateful to Jezebel for letting me go, but whatever happened to you has nothing to do with me.

"I'm not sorry, either." Nerves and fear were getting the better of her, and the scratching at the back of her mind told her that her other half was growing agitated. She never did take kindly to being threatened, and after how badly Ulv had scared her the last time she'd taken control, that need for retribution was strong. Abigaíl was hard pressed not to indulge her, too.

"Only a child would blame others for their choices, and I wasn't the first into that labyrinth." She never was the best talker. "Your actions bit you in the ass. Deal with it!" Now, she stared back at him, her brown eyes far from showing any power but conveying well enough that she was confident things would go in her favor if this escalated. She hoped a hard look would be enough.

Takehiko Kuchiki

Takehiko frowned before punching the tree with his hand sending it toppling over. He didn't lack in strength anymore. Not to any extent of worth as he sighed. Reason flooding back in as anger slowly relented. "You don't get it, they are watching still." He sat down feeling exhaustion on his shoulders. His body ached from the training they forced him to do. But that wasn't the part troubling him. Takehiko's body had just gotten in better shape. Nothing else had come of it he wasn't a gifted Hakuda user. He was simply not talented in any way shape or form. Leading the Unabara was impossible as his blood boiled. Ruin provided access to certain things. But nothing outside of the ordinary within his body. "I know a lot more now than I ever did. " Takehiko just wasn't an angry person by his nature. He wasn't backing down from her and his frustration was clear. He just couldn't find a way to vent on her. Screaming and yelling at Abi didn't solve the problem.

"They've got so much under that place words don't define it. Those other paths contain secrets for each Horsemen only." Takehiko couldn't venture a guess to what was down them. Each horseman had secrets that one couldn't simply guess at. With Death's being the most unknown of them all as an Enigma. "Each of the Four contains certain secrets from the other. So even I don't know what Pestilence, Famine, or Death hold. My uncle is the former Death is Tsubasa Unabara." HIs uncle was famous and infamous for two reasons. The man rose to Captain-Commander position from his time in Australia. Earning a reputation as one of the Gotei's greatest swordsman, also a master of the Flash Step. Something Takehiko yet struggled to apply and grow. He wished to surpass those who came before in that regard. To truly evolve the Flash Step into his own. But right now he couldn't accomplish that feat on his own. Takehiko couldn't grow any further. His frame felt so tired.

Takehiko's eyes of azure narrowed looking at her again before sitting. So many things were lost on him at this present moment. She didn't know the gravity of the situation they were in. So maybe it was time to enlighten her to what was going on. Within the Unabara's absence at this moment without horsemen. "The Criminal Underworld is taking advantage of the war at this moment. Slavery has become a massive trade again with people being snatched with neither side noticing. Other things are happening on the Black Market and a lot of Kingpins are making moves right now. No one is preventing it, nobody can get close to it. " Takehiko knew what it meant because he'd studied the situation. He'd read the books learned exactly what lurked in the unseen void. "Truth is, I'm frustrated you left because I can't stop them alone. I"m but one of the four, I've not even come into my Shikai yet. My uncle kept them down all this time on his own. I can't do that, not as I am." Takehiko explained why his angry.

Projecting his anger for his failure on her and not being able to turn to people. "I can't ask Ulv or anyone else with so much power they stand out. " Takehiko described a situation where winning seemed impossible. He had to combat a force that was working in secret. Locate who was pulling the strings. Which Underworld Kingpin had decided they could get away with slavery at this moment. Takehiko just did not have the power or the numbers to stop it. He just couldn't prevent this as the only Unabara ware of the situation.

Things did not go at all how she'd been expecting. The tension all but left the space between the two of them as the Kuchiki took a seat on the forest floor, leaving her all but clueless as to what this was about. It wasn't for revenge, clearly. She could flee at any moment she so wished...

Yet, Abigaíl remained and heard him out. It made sense that criminals would be taking advantage of the war to line their own pockets. She'd been targeted by goons once or twice, only for them to learn just how dire a mistake they'd made. That thought brought the smallest of grins to her face, then dropped her heart as she remembered what she'd done to them immediately thereafter.

"This still has nothing to do-" She was cut off by a feeling of urgency from the sword hanging from her hip. Her eyes swept down to it, and for a few moments, she seemed to be listening intently to an unheard voice. In the end, she sighed, "Fine."

Araña had never liked the concept of slavery, and it had riled her up.

"Look, War or not, you're not going to get far if you can't even use shikai. Not unless this," she gestured to all of the Kuchiki, especially the reiatsu aura bubbling around him. "Makes you immune to bullets.

"And, I can't be Pestilence. It's too... risky." She admitted, though without voicing her fears specifically. "You're going to need a plan."

Takehiko sighed softly and looked at the aura of reiatsu around him which began to fade. He shook his head at the question if it protected him from bullets. If anything he'd been stagnant now for some time in his power. He didn't know his zanpakuto's name just felt danger from it. His eyes looked up at her watching closely. She'd openly stated that she couldn't become Pestilence. Jezebel's prediction was right on the money. Women's intuition she called it, he called it terrifying. "That's what she thought thus she sent me to inform you that another seat has remained empty since the beginning. The Seat of Famine has remained without an owner since the formation. " Takehiko said muttering as he looked up at Abigail now. He'd said what Jezebel told him to tell her. The word for word since that woman was frightening enough on a normal basis. Takehiko furthermore knew of many problems he had in this regard. Shikai was the least of his problems as all War's up to this period had been skilled melee fighters.

"The other thing is a bit more problematic, War up until this point has been a hakuda or zanjutsu fighter. My cousin Tetsuya would have been perfect for the tradition. " Takehiko was terrible at fighting with his hands or sword. He was a specialist in the realm of kido. Not being in the strength of fighting that way in any regard. Takehiko was a specialist in a dying art within the gotei. No matter how he tried to branch out to fight on the front. He just didn't equal up to the past. He couldn't perform things they did naturally as breathing. "I on the other hand..frustratingly enough...am only good at Hoho and Kido." Takehiko merely said it grumbling as he heard her finally agree. As for beating the slavers, they needed time. Takehiko couldn't promise his strength wasn't going to get in her way. At this moment the Unabara were tracking them or the mod souls were at least. Judgment had to be passed in some way or form. This was a truth that was self-evident for those who saw it.

"I've got ideas, a strategy is my stronger suit. The question is, was Jezebel right about you becoming the first Famine?" He said the words softly glancing upwards. The Unabara wouldn't get another break like this anytime. The future held a mystery wrapped in a veil. Takehiko wasn't yet strong enough to progress to the next stage. His hands gently touched his sword realizing on his own that it wasn't likely. That he would ever be able to fully master his weapon. His skills as it stood were simply in two subjects. Hoho and within the field of Kido where he felt a comfortable home. Takehiko's azure eyes stared into Abigails to see what she chose.

When the Levee Breaks 7L69wmz

A tinge of agitation arose in her mind when the Kuchiki offered her another seat among the four; that of Famine. It had to have been a sick joke, and most likely one being orchestrated by Ulv herself. To... To offer her the title of Famine... With her current struggles to overcome just...

Was she struggling? Her appetite never did seem to be satisfied, no matter how much she ate.

"No." Abigaíl answered the man bluntly, with more of a stern look than she'd intended. Joke or not, she didn't want to imagine the sorts of torment the fake brit would subject her to, let alone what might happen if she went through with it. "She's wrong." She could've sworn she'd felt a hint of excitement from the back of her mind, but it was gone too quickly for her to be sure. Either way, that frightened her a little bit.

"I can help, but... I can't become a Horseman. Any Horseman." Slowly, she took a couple of steps back, to further distance herself from the Kuchiki. "If you promise to keep it between us, I can provide some muscle, and pick up where you're lacking."

Takehiko Kuchiki

Takehiko blinked at her sudden firmness, something had happened. Slowly he dusted himself off now rising. Shrugging his shoulders he said what he'd been thinking. "What I expected, didn't take you for the type to eat energy as is." He said thinking it sounded disgusting for someone to do. Famine didn't just eat or starve themselves. They consumed large quantities of things like energy. He'd heard stories that the one meant for it could even eat souls of any creature. Said to devour large amounts of energy to satisfy her hunger. Food just didn't calm the one known as Famine. All things were a product of her gluttony even sex. Takehiko didn't understand how one could eat that way. But he didn't study that female all that much. War couldn't perform those actions even if he wanted too. "I'm fine with extra muscle since I can't stop them alone. " Takehiko cracked his neck feeling tense yet due to that training. Tanaka was a mad man when it came right down to it.

Punching rocks and trying to avoid impossibly large objects or destroy them. Wasn't what the Kuchiki had signed up for. The Unabara was a house of crazy people. "Avoid Jezebel, Ichabod, and Tanaka. They seemed rather certain, but what I turned up is spooky. " Takehiko wasn't trying to convince her as he shuddered a bit. General uneasy on his face as he covered himself letting a small shiver out. "The person meant to take that spot, could eat anything. Souls, Sex, energy, anything she wanted. How does someone eat sex, that doesn't make any sense. Don't they have to be married for that to even happen?" Takehiko's childlike innocence shined through no matter what the circumstance. His first reaction to her eating something that sounded impossible on paper. Was didn't she need to be married or something like that. Takehiko didn't get the idea behind why someone would. "I think she should have been called Gluttony if she ate things, why Famine?"

He was more or less puzzling and getting whatever complaints about them out now. While Abigail and he managed to handle whatever would become. He was a medic and kido specialist after all. So what good did it do him to worry about things he couldn't control. His arms stretched to the sky as he figured it best to drop the subject. Abi didn't like the Unabara people he guessed. While he wasn't very keen on the freakish nature of their people. He'd not even begun to question his Uncle Tsubasa yet on this. Finding the Shack and everything had been a double-edged sword for him. Oh, he got answers, but they weren't answers he liked.

When the Levee Breaks 7L69wmz

A grin and brief, amused snort cracked the woman's stern look. She hadn't known much at all about the Kuchiki before, but to think that someone so... so utterly innocent and naive could be the Horseman of War was almost hilarious. Maybe if it had been Ulv who'd said such nonsense, she would retort with something snide, but not him, and not now.

"Famine implies an endless hunger, and gluttony to act on it." Abigaíl mused aloud, entertaining the Kuchiki's train of thought for a moment. "Sounds like a Hollow, to me..." She didn't let herself stay on that thought for too long, however.

"So, these underworld criminals?" Her tone changed as she forced herself and the conversation away from darker thoughts. "What do you know?" Amusingly, it was a simple thing to fall back into her old routine from her days in the Stealth Force. Names, numbers, equipment, unique powersets; all vital pieces of information that one couldn't act without if she were to survive this ordeal.
