The Final Bastion's Defense [MADNESS CAPITAL: DEAD RISING] - Page 2 GDQCzUl

The situation quickly devolved into chaos, or at least, to those trying to keep up with it all. Individuals came and went. Powers and skills were thrown about almost haphazardly to keep the hoard at bay. Energies the likes of which the quincy had never felt before swelled to fill the battlefield.

In a more focused sense, Sylvia's attack had done some good, and she recalled the trio of deactivated seele schneider to her hand. They were much more effective than her arrows, of course, but she couldn't use her himmelsseelenschneider recklessly with so many around that seemed to focus on melee combat. Likewise, her bow dissipated into reishi once more, as she glanced over at the woman who had asked for her aid.

"Ja," she responded quickly while calling forth her power. In her free hand, outstretched towards the scissors-wielding woman, a dense fog of reishi and moisture quickly gathered, and soon materialized into a cloth for her to wear over her face. Perhaps she had been thinking too literally, but the filter she'd constructed of reishi and traces of her own spiritual power should've offered some help in resisting the maddening miasma.

That was the theory, anyways.

"Get inside, und keep zem avay from zee schtairs!" Sylvia shouted with a voice like booming thunder, and loosed her himmelsseelenschneider again at the mound of the undead reaching up from underneath her. Her blades and razor wire cut through them just as easily as before, and she made a point to avoid her would-be allies as she ran across the air in a circle around the building.

From her right hand, destruction rained down on the hoard, cutting them to pieces too small to be a threat. From her left, her himmlische marionette pulled groups of the dead from the walls of the building. Each body was as a paper weight to her spiritual power, but dividing her attention among so many fronts: aiding the demon, attacking and keeping the undead away from the building; that was going to tire her sooner than later.

All the while, something gnawed at her from the back of her mind. Alone... Why was she the only quincy to have answered the call for help? In all the Vandenreich, was she the only one here?

Song: Funkyard - By: Arrowhead & Zentra - Word Count: N/A

The madness... The Conflict... the sure everything was enough to make a demon go mad like she had before in the past. Hell, Arianda could swear she heard a voice trying to coax her to give into the madness. Little did it know that she utterly refused to become part of such darkness; her resolve Flame attempting to burn against the encroaching madness that threatened to swallow up her mind and body. It wouldn't be enough in the end. She was particularly susceptible thanks to a certain Queen of demons; Mana Asthavon. However, she had to last. No one deserved to perish thanks to these zombie-like beings; no one. So, with her teeth grit, Arianda prepared to draw her scissors out of the ground. However, she never truly got the chance.

Soon, more people entered, one who was intent on further harm; and another who was intent on ceasing such harm. Frankly, Arianda was unsure what happened. Maybe the one with intent to harm was corrupted by the madness; maybe not. Regardless, they attacked those trying to defend. Then, came someone Arianda knew quite well; so much so that his presence relieved her. Albeit it was for an instant before she felt immediate fear.

Henrex, well, he was intelligent; but why in fuck would he use holy magic when a pureblood demon was standing right here. As if she was cowering from a monster intent to tear her apart, Arianda hid behind her scissors; not wanting to feel the burn of the magic. However, her expectancy to get burned and harmed was quite untrue. It felt... oddly warm. Frankly, for Ari, the warmth was a bit uncomfortable, but it helped her fight away the effects of the madness; her one eye returning back to it's normal silver. She breathed a sigh of relieve before giving Henrex a big ol' grin. Sure, she wanted to give Henrex a rib-cracking hug; but she may have to wait. After all, this entire place was going to come down if not for their defense. However, it was Ari; she would make sure everyone came out safe.

So, with Henrex gone, Arianda noticed the Holy energy seemingly fading; slight fear cropping back up. At least until Sylvia extended a scarf, or cloth, to her. Likely, it was her aid. Arianda blinked at it before smiling warmly at the woman; taking the cloth while accidentally brushing her hand against Sylvia's. Without missing a beat, Arianda tied the cloth around her face; covering her mouth and nose. She also tucked it into her cloak. Meanwhile, she subtly used her body manipulation, now known as possessive shifting, to temporarily make the cloth stay on her face better. Such a thing eased her breathing in more ways than one. She let out a tiny sigh of relief before she noticed a zombie charging straight for her. She grinned wildly under the scarf.

No. Restraint.

She slammed her fist into the zombie's stomach; utilizing a burst of energy to throw it backwards into the beings also attempting to crash upon them. Indeed, Henrex gave them relief, but it was momentary. Without it, they would not have had the best chance to recuperate. However, Arianda cracked her knuckles, grabbing her scissors from the ground; holding them reverse so the blade was parallel with her arm.

"Yes Ma'am~"

Arianda gave a malicious cackle as Ari, with a good deal of expertise, weaved through the encroaching zombies attempting to get towards the stairs of the building; Ari in the way as she held out her scissors in front of her. Frankly, Arianda did not wish to scare any of her allies. However, she was a demon; and her powers were meant to cause pain and conflict. She could certainly direct them away from her companions; and that is what she did. As the residual conflict in the area from their fight slowly built up in Arianda, causing her to be unable to absorb DE for any other purpose than to remove it from the zombies, she swung her scissors downwards; creating a blast of Ari that buffeted back the zombies. This gave the demon time to release her Possessive Drive of Conflict.

"Don't worry, I'll keep you and these stairs safe; Oh, I'm Arianda Vael, by the way~"

Almost instantly, Arianda changed so much that her red cloak was gone, her black and red hair was now white, her skin was paler, her eyes blue, her outfit a little more skimpy and demonic, a blue, spiked, tail raising from above her backside, and blue horns sprouting from each side of her head; right behind her pointed ears. She needed to protect these people, to protect the woman who had given her the cloth, which still adorned her pale face; and to protect those who have not yet succumbed to the madness and the zombies. With a rather grizzly crunch of concrete below her feet, Arianda slammed a single, large, gauntlet forwards. In an instant, she began to tear through the zombies, pushing back the forever encroaching line; constantly withdrawing to stay by Sylvia's side. She was, after all, going to protect the woman. So much so that, sometimes, Arianda's tail may accidentally flit around the woman to slam into an approaching zombie; or even just simply to assure Ari, without looking, she was safe. It was, likely, very odd. But, if Sylvia ever looked at Ari; it was still the same woman. Still the same person who she entrusted that cloth to and decided to repay Sylvia by keeping her safe. Just a bit fiercer.

Eventually, Arianda slammed her fist into the ground, attempting to create a rift or hole in the street for zombies to bumble into; falling back shortly after to stand beside Sylvia. Suffice to say, Arianda's breathing was far easier than it was before. Yes, it was a little quick due to her exertion earlier; but the demon seemed fine. Regardless, Arianda kept close to Sylvia; protecting the woman, and the stairs of the building, from the zombies. After all, it was the least she could do, not only for Sylvia; but also for all those who needed protection. Regardless, if Ari got the chance, she was going to punch the person who caused that explosion.

BURN THE HERETICS!

Okuda watched as several zombies fell to his blade, though none stopped trying to move. Their muscles somehow still twitching in a way that said to him they would keep trying to move towards the living. His anger was starting to boil over, he usually had good control over his own emotions but this smoke, this haze...something about it was causing his emotions to start to unravel, his control starting to be shaved away. He wanted to leave this place, let others more equipped deal with these zombies, to deal with the massacre that was needed..

That was when he heard the voice in his head, the feeling of something telling him to let loose to just...kill, it was what he was good at anyways. To rend flesh from bone and sinew. His eyes widened, not in terror but rage, madness to a degree. His damned Hollow was speaking to him again, taunting him...no, that wasn’t right. Shinda-en was not the type to do that, the voice didn’t sound like Asahi’s usual raspy tone; this voice was something different, but what was it? He knew that whilst he wanted to not kill, these zombies were already dead. He could see the shimmering of a barrier in the distance, though that was back when he had first arrived.

He needed to buy himself some time, he had no choice but to rely on powers he had not yet mastered. As such he gripped the base of the blade of Asahi in his hand, his left hand still on the hilt itself. :This battle needs to end! SCORCH THE EARTH ASAHI!” shouted the samurai. Soon the blade of his Zanpakutō was wreathed in flames, his hand having retreated just in time. “If steel won’t put you monsters down, lets see how flame works! HI NO SENPŪ!

Okuda then watched as the flames that were part of his very Zanpakutō began to swirl around the sharp metal shaft. He however had no fanciful plans for this blade, he instead began to push his Reiatsu into the flames, slowly increasing both the size of the vortex of flames as well as its width, he did this until he had forcefully created a wall of flames around him, he knew that he would not be able to hold this for long, as it was now he was pushing himself with the flames as it was.

He then began to run to where the barrier was, or at least where he had remembered it. Any zombies between him and it that did not move when he got closer would find themselves lit aflame and for those unfortunate enough to make it through the wall of fire into direct contact with Okuda himself would be slashed by the burning blade. Okuda would, unless stopped by some force strong enough, reach the location of the barrier as his Shikai would deactivate, a hard sweat drenching his Shihakushō. He was not exactly a master of his Shikai yet…

When he arrived he would attempt to enter the barrier if it stood still, if it did not he would simply start to cut his way through the horde of zombies, climbing the stairs until he reached a level with other living beings, his body exhausted from the severe amount of work he suddenly was putting it under. All the while he had another voice in his head demanding to be heard… “Okuda! Let me loose! Use my mask! Together we can burn those pitiful husks! Nothing would stand up to the heat of you, me and Asahi-sama!

Okuda was trying to ignore the voice for now, he was not yet ready to truly listen to the Hollow, not because he feared it, but because he had not even had time to really think on the things that Ulv had told him when he had spoken to her last. He needed to consider many things before he donned the porcelain-colored mask once more. He needed to weigh out his own life and the misdeeds he had committed before he could trust himself with that level of power again, no he would not use Shinda-en yet, and as it stood right now Asahi would need a moment of rest before he could use it again...

Sonrier.

His body twitched; his blue eye rotating first to one side, and then to another. Seemed like another man had joined the fray; he was aiming his blade at points that made sense for living beings, but perhaps not for those of the Undead. If they're obeying that kind of sense… The Skeleton observed the way that the zombies reacted. He was under the impression that he would not need to deal with them, but just in case…

Then his eye made it out. His Pesquia dinged something different; something he was much more familiar with. …Uh oh. That overflow of Aether energy. Iramasha… here? He wondered why one of that blood would have interest here; surely there was nothing that interested the Iramasha about this situation? What was unmistakable, though, was the way she moved to destroy the building he was standing on.

Out of his jacket pocket, his skeletal hand appeared, his thumb bone flicking. Two white chips soared through the air; as they flew, they morphed and changed, becoming bone-like constructs. The clay mass she had hucked at him was skewered through by the first; the other went directly for the creature's face. The smoke served as a perfect smokescreen; his hand reached right back into his pocket, watching as the girl sprang out from its grasp. Sonrier.

Shick shick shick shick shickkk

Great bones pierced through the ceiling, firmly lodged within it as they struck into where the girl was dashing straight at him. His thumb had planted them while she was occupied with the smoke bomb; and when she finally reached through to the other side, she would see that he was no longer there. A large white pillar replaced where he had been standing; he had used it to vault into the air above her. The smoke was in his face, the pressure and heat against his bones from the explosion. It was extraordinarily unpleasant for the skeleton; he could feel his skin crawl.

Or he would have, had he any.

His left hand slowly drew out of his pocket, that blue eye glowing in the night sky as he flicked more of the bone chips downward. The bones which had skewered outward leaned to the left; it would make the most sense to dodge to the right. The place where another seven of those spears of bone would now be raining down onto the back of her head and upper back, each one as sharp as a blade.

Out in the carnage below, however, another of the bone chips was flying. Nearly impossible to see along the landscape, the guitar-pick sized chip sailed toward its destination, along with two more on either side of it. Sonrier.

Behind them, several more flew, in a straight line.

The breeze carried the first wave of chips, measured with extraordinary accuracy, as they finally expanded. A few feet away from the cloaked target they had been after, attempting to spear into her leg, and on either side of her body. Dodging in any direction but above would be difficult; unless she was able to make out the tiny chips as they sailed across the battlefield from the building.

"Hey, I don't really got any bone to pick with ya."

The voice came from behind her, the skeletal man staring right at her. His Judgment Speed had carried him from that high place to this one in an instant; one moment, his clone was looking directly at him, and the next, it was as if space itself distorted. He was now standing behind her down below, his right hand outstretched. A few meters away; close enough to see the hood she wore, far enough that a single bound shouldn't quite reach him. "So do me a favor and leave it at that, wouldja?"

If she took another charge forward, she probably wouldn't like what happened next.

His outstretched hand thrust downward, and as it did so, a wave of raw force cascaded down onto the Iramasha's head. It probably would not do more than someone pressing their palm roughly against the top of her head; or like she was smacked. But that was not Sonny's goal. Directly down in front of the skeleton, the bone chips that had flown in a line expanded, crashing downward between the buildings where she had hidden herself. If she had chosen to charge at him, she would likely find herself skewered by the incoming attack. Sonny held his hand out, where she could see, making it easy to see as he flicked chip after chip between the buildings. They lodged in the ground, into the walls, his thumb moving with great speed as the Bone Seeds impacted into the surfaces between them.

There. That's the two I could find… SONRIER!

With that, he turned his back to her. If she decided to still come after him, she would have to deal with those dozens of seeds bursting forth. Otherwise, she could leave him alone, as once again he tried to focus himself for another use of his Judgment Speed.

[Sonny has attempted to, yet again, leave the thread.]

Judas Iscariot

Into the fray

» Meep

Judas kicked started her battle with the bone boy who was attempting to leave the battlefield. She couldn't let someone walk in, and leave on the fly. She wanted to give the man in bones a present of sorts. Something that would give him a reason to stay for a while, and have some fun. If that didn't work, she'd have to attempt to convince him even harder. Perhaps a fight was in question. The miasma kept flowing within her body, as it eat up most of whatever was left. Judas felt a foreign sense of drive for battle, and pent up emotions that lingered in her thoughts. Her bad, trickster demeanor set in motion. She was ready to have some fun. While her clone was airborne, passing through the smoke and the small debris uplifted due to the impact left by her explosive clay. It appeared to have bothered this bonnie stranger. Fire wasn't everyone's best friend. When she had emerged out of the smoke, she was hoping to see the bone guy but alas, he managed to keep himself at a distance. Using his tricks to propel himself off the ground, and in the air.

When he was airborne, Judas landed on solid ground, and proceeded to watch his next move. The choice that he readied came as a sudden surprise. She was met with a wave of bones, flying at her. When these seeds of his appeared before her from the left, she made an attempt to dodge his sides by jumping to the right. When she did manage to avoid getting chipped by a dozen of them, her clone would still be left with scratches from the side of her cloak. Shredding most of the fabric apart, and due to the sharpness of his bones. It had also quickly damaged the left side of her mask. Giving the bone man a good look of her cheek, and left eye, while the other side was unharmed. Nearling dodging his attack, she would then be greeted by more of his bones. Judas clone became impaled by them, sending the clone body flying from the building she was fighting on, and crashing down with the horde of the zombie. Her clone would soon disperse, having used up the rest of judas energy when she first made it.

"No we're talking!" Judas felt a sudden rush of excitement as she said this from beneath the mask, now having no clones left to keep him. He had greeted judas main body with a few of his seeds however, Judas quickly retaliated by forming her unique sword. Moonslice. Once moonslice emerged in her hand, she quickly guarded herself from the overflowing might of the seeds that shot from the bone man. Her sword is unique because of its ability to absorb damage, from the overwhelming force. The force was good enough to push her back some, and she can feel the heat radiating from moonslice once the seeds began to bounce off into the air. If he had continued his wave of bones, her sword would've overheated. Thanks to that, she was able to rest her arms as the red blade of her sword was used as a shield. Before she could completely rest, she didn't have much time to dodge the ones that were aimed at her legs, and summoned a clone to help her by taking the fall.

"Tch, you really want to leave that badly?" She muttered, before the sudden appearance of the man in bones who was right behind her. Judas didn't move an inch, as he had thrown some of his bone seeds on the ground as if they were meant to be used as a trap. She stood still, not moving an inch. Moonslice, her blade rested in her right hand. "What was the point of you coming here anyway--weirdo" She clenched her teeth and felt frustrated and a bit disappointed. Judas wanted to have more fun with this guy, and figure him out. The numbness in her head started to bother her because of the miasma, but she decided not to attack him, but instead more focused on using her energy on her third clone. This time she used it as a springboard to jump out of the trap, as she placed her right foot on the hand of her clone. She jumped high enough to perform a backflip, and separating herself from the bone man.

Judas peaked at moon slices blade as it was radiating with energy, she decided to use this energy by pouring enough aether energy within the sword. Once she did so, she swung down hard, after bringing the tip of the blade from the back of her hand, and straight down. She created a wave of energy that was heading straight towards the horde of zombies, and following them was the barrier and okuda who had finished his flame show.

The Wandering Genin

Yoriko Morri

The Final Bastion's Defense [MADNESS CAPITAL: DEAD RISING] - Page 2 JCRrxmK

The zombies fell as the debris topped themselves onto the undead though considering what she witnessed earlier they weren’t going to go down so easily. Yoriko glanced as the battle ensued between a shinigami and a skeleton? Which confused her quite a bit, she can handle people with swords, projectiles made or reishi, and even hollows but a freaking skeleton? That’s a new level of bizzare. Regardless the girl would love to assist her buut these people were her primary concern, hopefully the zombies wouldn’t magically be able to climb walls that’d be ridiculous...

Yoriko’s face turned to shock as she reminenced what she just said, if these zombies could clone the walls it’d make her job more difficult as she didn’t want to cause any more damage to the building. She could go back and forth bombarding them with rocks but she’s had to take chunks of the building which she couldn’t afford doing.

And her clone probably disappeared at this point..so once again she’d make another one to defend the roof as the real one went outside the barrier to help Sylvia. Shunpo’ing on top roof she used a bit of the material underneath them to use her powers. “I can’t let you have all the fun.” Yoriko smiled as she placed her Kunai and other ninja tools into the concrete infusing her own energy into it making them more deadly. One in particular was a paper explosive, that detonated on impact, throwing them downward, and I if any zombie got hit with this the result would be a small explosion around them exploding them into hits and pieces

The Final Bastion's Defense [MADNESS CAPITAL: DEAD RISING] - Page 2 Empty Re: The Final Bastion's Defense [MADNESS CAPITAL: DEAD RISING]

Tue Nov 12, 2019 8:35 am

The horde rushed, screaming, roaring. There was something approaching; something that made their cries increase in intensity. Something was wrong. Something was very wrong, and the zombies did not appear to know how to deal with it. The Madness in the area began to swell, as the voices within the minds of those who had gathered dimmed for a moment.

Demon. Unaccepted one.

Different.

Monster.

Even as his Act of Heroism was erected, Henrex Astillon's mind came under brutal assault. The purple around his body was noticeably darker, as if it were impossible to see him through its purging miasma. He activated that holy field, and the miasma was beaten back, before crashing against what had been erected. The Miasma crushed into it, straining at its edges, the screaming and howling of the gathered corpses dramatically increasing in pitch. The zombies that were not yet within the building were pushed back from his actions, but the ones within were pushed further forward.

And then… he was gone. As his body flew through the sky, the Madness that assailed his mind remained intense, increasing the likelihood that the Shinigami would lose control during his time within the metropolis.

The woman Yoriko down below, however, would begin to find herself becoming overwhelmed. While she now had protection against the mental effects of this continuing nightmare, they did little to stop the zombies that were now surrounding her body. She had created a clone, and while that distracted some of their forces, it could not deter all of them. Her attack had managed to destroy the staircase; but in the process, that meant that there was only one place for the zombies to go.

Directly into Yoriko.

Masses crushed against her body; she threw a paper bomb, but the density of the zombies had grown such that while torsos were blown away, stopping some, those who would typically have been sent reeling from the explosion merely smashed into their compatriots. This pushed the corpses further up the rubble where the stairs had been, and further highlighted just how surrounded the woman now found herself.

..To die… Going… To die… going… to die…

Of course, even with protection, it was possible that Yoriko's mind would begin losing control of itself of its own accord; the situation she found herself in was a highly unpleasant one. If the stress became too much, it would make it that much easier for the wavelength that surrounded her body to take control…

Meanwhile, the stairs continued to crack.

Outside the building, a woman stood, tearing out down the dead, ripping them into pieces. Alone. No support. Failing. Failing. Despite the raven-haired man's intervention, the brave woman down below was still being assaulted, and quite possibly overwhelmed by the forces gathered around her. The only Quincy. The only one. Time to make your own decisions. Time to abandon the rest. Time to decide for yourself. FOR YOURSELF!

The Madness crashed into her mind where it had found purchase, as the zombies reached the top of the rubble at last. She gained some measure of protection from the man who had barged in; but it may have already been too late.

The first wave of zombies was making its way away from the second floor staircase, moving up to where the third were located. Not great in number, but still proceeding…

Demon. You are a demon. The sounds of cutting flesh, breaking bone surrounded Arianda's head as she cut through swathe after swathe of the undead. The holy magic that Henrex had activated had given the Madness new purchase; another vulnerability to exploit. Not like the others. Not like him. Not a hero. A demon, loving conflict. Loving cutting them down. That's where you belong. Not this lie.

Up to the moment when that scarf wrapped around her neck, the increased intensity with which the madness assailed the mind of the Demon would threaten to snap her will. She some measure of protection, but as it was wrapped around her throat…

The behavior of the zombies around her changed.

Arms thrust out, going straight for the scarf. The Miasma guided the Madness to where it would deal the most damage, particularly here in the Outer Ring. What it found there was another method by which to gain purchase; her blades cut through another corpse, then another body, shredding them down, mowing through them. Cut them down. CUT THEM ALL DOWN! IT FEELS RIGHT! That madness could still be felt within her mind, subdued though it was through the scarf. They'll take it away; take away your protection. Take away your sanity. So anxious, protecting it. So anxious. So much harder. The Madness would likely begin affecting her in a new way, now that she had something else to be anxious about.

Gripping fingers trying to find purchase on her protection, even as she ripped and tore them limb from limb.

Meanwhile, the hole she had created was being filled with the corpses coming in from the door. Only the first wave of zombies that had managed to reach the top of the stairs were still continuing upward, thanks to her efforts. However, it was obvious to anyone looking that this would not work for long; already, limbs could be seen sticking out of the hole, as zombies crawled their way back out, pushing their brethren in deeper.

You're out here alone. YOU CAN'T GO ON LIKE THIS. KILL! KILL WITHOUT MERCY! YOU KNOW THAT'S WHAT YOU WANT!

On the outside of the building, the man known as Okuda continued to struggle his way toward that barrier. Flames coated his zanpakuto, and before his eyes the corpses began to melt. No longer a threat. YES! ISN'T THAT BETTER? The Madness crashed against his mind; even as the horde began crushing into his body. He was moving toward where the concentration of corpses was greatest, and the pressure would begin to show. Grabbing hands tried to crush his limbs, arms gripping at his feet from those who had fallen. Even as he beat them back, the concentration had grown intense enough that the Shinigami was not able to push them back further away; they were now flowing back toward him, hands gripping at his head, his arms, his chest.

RELEASE IT! STOP BEING SO AFRAID! DO WHAT YOU DO BEST AND KILL THEM!

And then, something happened.

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!

Crrrrrrrnnnn…

The entire building shifted. Judas' attack had pushed the horde forward, sending them crashing against its side. The zombies who had pooled around the hole from the outside of the building were exerting so much weight and strength against it, combined with her attack, that the entire structure was beginning to move; light fixtures crashed into the ground, including around where the Quincy was firing her attacks up above.

But, that was not the only thing that had changed; in front of Okuda, shot after shot crashed through the zombies. Before his eyes, these bullets turned into miniature explosions, blowing away the zombies as a clear path appeared for him toward where the hole and the barrier had been created. Someone, or something, had perfectly aimed their shots to allow for him to take advantage of; if he neglected this opportunity, however, he would watch the zombies as they pooled quickly back into the opened space, arms clawing at him once again.

The structural stability of the building has become under threat due to the concentration of corpses near the outside of the building! The zombie threat has taken substantial damage, however; those outside of the building are no longer considered a serious threat, other than the mass that has affixed itself to the entrance. However, the defenders have not won yet; the madness has worn at each of them; will one, or more, fall to insanity...?

Believe nothing, no matter where you read it or who has said it, not even if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.

The Final Bastion's Defense [MADNESS CAPITAL: DEAD RISING] - Page 2 GDQCzUl

The battle continued to rage, with no end to the massive horde in sight. No matter how many she cut down, it didn't seem to be making any difference. Only more came from all around to replace those who had been felled, and the few of her allies fighting from the ground were becoming overwhelmed by their numbers.

Then, there was that feeling assaulting her mind, even as she tried to focus on the battle. Alone? No... She might have been the only soldat to come to Beijing's aid, but she wasn't alone. She had allies fighting alongside her, and still innocents that needed their protection. She couldn't think like that. She had to do better. She had to be better.

She had to represent not just the Vandenreich now, but the best of humanity.

She had to be the best of humanity!

The winds picked up around the quincy as she called forth more of her power, fighting against the reishi-repelling effect of her leiden hant to empower herself further. More and more; her body filled with the energy of the atmosphere around her. Lines of light blue grew to cover her face and exposed hand, curling and curving gently in stark contrast to the hard turns of most quincy's Blut.

Bolstered by her Blut Arterie, Sylvia reached towards the windows of the building with her free hand, and each was pulled out from its frame like the puppeteer's marionette. Again, her will extended into the building, attaching to each and every corpse that had ascended to the second floor, and with a great grunt of effort, she pulled them from the building and out into the street.

The airborne bodies were carved into pieces by her seele schneider, then the distinctive sound of two more of the devices sprung to life. From one hand, the same trio reigned down on the horde below, and from the other, she flung another two in rapid succession. The weapons of one hand drove into the horde surrounding Yoriko, with hopes of giving her an avenue of escape, then her other directed even more of her power to free the shinigami wielding his flaming sword from a similar fate.

Yet, she couldn't keep this up forever. Already, beads of sweat were dotting the blonde's brow, and her hands began to ache from the strain.

Song: Funkyard - By: Arrowhead & Zentra - Word Count: N/A

Clearly, whatever controlled the Madness, the miasma, the zombies; all of it had noticed the cloth that Ari was using to assist in her resistance to the madness. However, the problem became a bit more apparent when Zombies grabbed at her face; reaching for the cloth that had protected her face. Indeed, she was a demon, she was no hero; she used to be a servant of Mana Asthavon. However, she had changed. She had become better. Arianda gritted her teeth as the resolve flame inside of her flared with renewed fervor; further giving Ari resistance to the madness. She would not fall to such powers again; it was something she did not wish to feel. So, Ari decided to take another precaution against the miasma; against the encroaching madness that pushed the zombies on to take her protection.

Plates made from some material, akin to the metal of her gauntlets, rose up from around Ari's neck and surrounded the lower half of her face; protecting the cloth mask while also allowing her to breathe and for the effects of the cloth to remain active. However, it would make it harder to just simply rip the cloth off Ari's face. However, that was the least of her troubles. The undead were stirring with such desire for madness that Arianda could almost touch it; so palpable it was she could feel it. However, something else concerned her. Yoriko.

The demon's head turned towards where Sylvia had recently attacked, creating an opening for the Shinigami. Arianda bit her lip under the scarf before yelling in frustration. Then, came her move. Arianda drew her right arm back and slammed it into the ground with enough force to likely make the building shake; but not destroy it. Indeed, Sylvia had taken care of the zombies that had forced their way past Ari; but Ari needed to create a larger pit to hold the zombies. With a burst of force, Arianda created large chasm in front of the building; enlarging the hole she made and creating a new one. Sure, it was deep, but she can't simply just tear the earth open willy nilly. She had to pace herself; even if the ambient conflict was providing her with energy. But, the hole was, again, a distraction.

Arianda's real intent became clear as, with a burst of speed, the demon cut through zombies to create an opening towards Yoriko; her technical niece. The zombies likely would not be able to trace her speed, likely nor could Sylvia nor Yoriko, or the other occupants of the battle; but Ari appeared at Yoriko's side. With a rather uncouth movement, Arianda picked up Yoriko and leaped upwards; out of the horde of the zombies that crashed into each other. Soon, Arianda landed below Sylvia, on a roof that was safe, and placed the Shinigami down. She smiled at Yoriko, which only really was shown by her eyes, as her right hand momentarily returned to just a gauntlet on her hand as the demon gave Yoriko a gentle pat.

"Be careful, okay? You gotta make it home for Henny."

Arianda gave her a smile before she looked up towards Sylvia, her right hand turning back into the large claw. She looked at the surrounding zombies and jumped down to push back the hordes, even if only momentarily, before she jumped up towards Sylvia; her right hand turning to normal as she even removed the gauntlet to place her bare hand on Sylvia's shoulder.

"Sylvia, don't over do it. You won't last long if you do. You're a strong quincy, but, even if there aren't any more quincy here; you're not alone. Alright?"

Ari gave Sylvia a warm smile, which, again, only showed thanks to her eyes, before she put the gauntlet back on; and Ari's right gauntlet grew large once more.

"And I sure as shit won't let such a strong woman like you, or Yoriko, fall to these god damned beings."

Small post is Small.

Okuda wasted no time, he knew that the path that had opened would not last long, even with his mind starting to cloud over thanks to the miasma. He heard the voice of someone or something in his mind, it was annoying him much like Shinda-en did. Moving quickly the swordsman would move through the path that opened with all due haste, trying to make his way through as quickly as he could. Any of the Zombies that would try to get in his way would soon be cut down by his still engulfed blade of flames.

If he was unobstructed, the man would make his way to the barrier and attempt to enter it, knowing that would give him some sort of reprieve and time to think. If he was able to enter the barrier he would allow his Shikai to revert to its sealed state, his Zanpakutō becoming just a normal steel blade once more. His face drenched in sweat not from heat but from effort. His mind racing all the while. Okuda knew that if he wanted to help fend off the madness he might need to let his Mask handle most of the heavy lifting from this point on...
