Kaiedo appeared to be taking in everything about this battle, didn't he? Strange. It seemed that although he was going somewhat far, he was still taking in the battle. It wasn't as if Dai was trying to fight him off with full strength, but he wasn't not trying. He was just holding back. He didn't know who was nearby, but if there was anyone, they might sense his Reiatsu if he went all out. The redhead sighed softly, and stepped back, watching Kaiedo carefully.

”I came here to see what you were capable of who you were. I see now though that it will take more coaxing to get there. Bakudo #76, Bokasu Be-ru.”

"A Bakudo?" His eyes narrowed, and he watched the proceeding flow of energy spread out. His hand went to his zanpakuto, preparing to possibly slice through the energy, but then he noticed it. The air inside... was stale. Or at least not flowing as readily. He blinked a few times, and sighed in frustration.

”Those beyond that barrier will have a hard time detecting either of us, regardless of how fierce this battle becomes. I’ve not interest in being interrupted,” Oh? The red eyes closed, and a slight smirk crossed the redhead's face. That was good.

"That's good. It means that... I can go all out." He looked up at Kaiedo, and placed his left hand onto the Glaive, focusing on the seal beneath on the top of his right hand's flesh. He had taken the chance to seal his Reiatsu before he started chasing the lead. He sighed softly, and closed his eyes. Kaiedo wasn't here to kill him, he had gathered. So he could do this without paranoia.

"I am the bone of my defense,
the heart is the lone wolf.
The smile on the face of fate,
shows me the clear path.
Life is an ever-changing dream, dreams and souls alike!

Bakudo no Nijuugo; Midori Shiru."
White lightning crackled around the Glaive, as the only Kidou that Dai knew deactivated. It was a frustration, but it was best to use the incantation to deactivate the kidou, as it made shit faster. He looked up at Kaiedo, his Reiatsu not growing much from the change. He breathed out, and stepped back. So, it seemed that the release of the seal had failed... or had it?

He watched Kaiedo remove the jacket, and his gloved hands moved to the zanpakuto and sheath, drawing it out slowly. He wouldn't attack Kaiedo here, he would respect the man's business. This was an honorable fight to test the other. And so...

”Terrorize, Gekimetsu.

...That was it. He had released. And so...

"Bite, Kiba Ookami." He raised his zanpakuto up before his face and swiped it down to the side. A sudden burst of Reiatsu emanated from the zanpakuto in a white cone, and it doubled in length. He sighed. There was no need to waste words on a release, but it seemed better to reveal the name of his blade. His Reiatsu suddenly jumped, he could now match your weak Captain in bankai. The first attack came suddenly, and Dai dived to the side, avoiding the quick attack with ease. They seemed to be made of Reiatsu, but he didn't want to risk it. His hand hit the ground, and he bounded quickly, holding onto a root to flip himself back to position.

The second wave of Reiatsu came quicker than the last, and Dai felt himself hit with the attack. He shouted out in pain, rolling back across the ground kicking up dust. He grimaced and stood up. Any normal Shinigami would've been injured somewhat. But wanna know something? Something good?

Dai was almost completely unharmed. A little sore, yes. Maybe a line where the attack had scratched his skin. But that was the thing. Even if Dai's zanpakuto was defensive in nature, Dai's body was far more impressive. That body of his... was unusual. Because Dai's body could take almost anything weak, and come out near uninjured. The nature of his defense was in that and not just in his zanpakuto.

"Was that supposed to do something~?" Time to test the limits of Kaiedo's patience. The redhead shouted out in preparation, and suddenly...

”Rikujokoro, Seki.” Geh. He dived back, and slid his hand down the blade, causing it to glow white.

"Crescent Form!" He shouted out, swiping his zanpakuto in an arc. An arc of white energy shot off the blade, fired towards the Kidou made of light rods. The energy collided with the Kidou, slicing through them. A small explosion came from the violent splitting of the Reiatsu, and Dai was noticeably unphased by the attack. Another attack come at him, and he raised his zanpakuto to block the impending physical attack.

The blades collided, but the energy attack took Dai by surprise. The redhead could only lean back as the attack streaked past his face, and he pushed away from Kaiedo in a hurry, flipping in midair and landing on his feet with a grunt. He breathed out, and quickly got himself back together, taking but a second to try and understand the man's demeanor. Although he himself was calm, the bloodlust that Dai sensed from his zanpakuto annoyed him. Maybe it was because of Dai's own benevolence that caused the anger that came from Kaiedo's zanpakuto to frustrate him? Keh.

"Here I come." The redhead disappeared in a flash-step, only to stay hidden. A small burst of Reiatsu would appear behind Kaiedo, hopefully causing him to turn and look behind him - Dai would then reappear behind the man once more in order to attack him from behind. If that failed, he'd just have to take things as they went.

Dai was appropriately concerned when he had tossed up the Bakudou, at least until the explanation of what exactly it was had been given. After that he had seemed pleased. Interesting reactions; perhaps he had thought Kaiedo had moved to contain him for capture or something of that sort? Far from it, Dai was able to leave whenever he wanted from this barrier. However, it didn’t seem that was his goal, lucky for him. He wanted to continue this little test a while longer with the Shinigami. While a small part of that might have been Gekimetsu talking, his own curiosity could not be ruled out. This man was tough, and would provide a good chance to use some of his power for a bit. The shinigami raised his hand and began to intone a kidou Kaiedo removed his jacket. Then both released their blades, and the outcome of the attacks was decided. Kaiedo made note of the blade again, confirming what he had seen earlier when this had all began.

Kaiedo took stock of which attacks had landed. Dai had dodged the first, took the second though he didn’t seem to have taken much damage from it, sliced through the kidou and blocked the strike only to barely dodge his follow-up before distancing himself once more. Twice now he had demonstrated an ability to cut through energy based attacks, and yet he had not attempted to do so on the energy blade unleashed previously. He hadn’t picked out yet that the attacks were just energy based possibly? Kaiedo made a mental note here; he had seen Dai’s shikai take on two distinct forms already. The two forms didn’t seem that different from one another, the exception being their form and thus their range. How many forms did that weapon possess he wondered. It was something he could attempt to uncover he supposed if he really wanted to invest the time. Attacks from different angles would pry such secrets in due time. For now he looked up at Dai, allowing his blade to drop slightly so that he was no longer so open as he looked back at his opponent. The two spent a moment studying one another.

Dai was quick, both physically and mentally. While he had established such a fact earlier it bore repeating now that things were being pushed to another level. He had some kind of seal he had kept active until Kaiedo had put up the barrier; something to hold back his strength and make him seem weaker than he was. It was probably a tactic much like the one Kaiedo used; by masking their power they could move about as they wished rather than attracting unneeded attention. He had also used the kidou without the assistance from the strange glaive he was wearing. It was only strange because thus far he had used that glaive to cast the one kidou other than the restraint one. It was something else to keep in mind as he fought; if he needed to use that item to deliver attacks, then it was a limiting factor in his favor technically. If he was fighting to kill this man, he would probably seek to abuse such information. However, Dai didn’t seem to rely on his kidou much, for precisely that reason probably.

”Here I come,” the redhead said, and vanished with a shunpo. There was a small burst of reiatsu near his back. He didn’t stay there; his own shunpo carried him to the left and away from the zone; a swing of Gekimetsu sent another crescent of angry red energy flying at chest level. Kaiedo made sure to invest a small amount of energy into the shield on his left hand in the off chance he needed it. However, Dai wasn’t where the burst had been. He came to a halt as he looked around for a moment. However, Dai had not followed up as he had predicted. While Kaiedo was a patient being, he was not a fan of long pauses during battles. He was used to using the fast pace to his advantage; frankly, he was used to varying between offensive and defensive elements of fighting. Too long of a lull in action gave too much of a chance for the enemy to recover. He held out his left hand again in the direction of Dai.

”Soren Soukatsui,” he said simply; while he didn’t know the exact location of his target, he hardly needed it at the moment. A huge wave of blue fire roared forth, towering multiple stories high and wide as a river as it sought his opponent. The idea was simple; when you couldn’t find your quarry in the forest, be it man or beast, you burn down the forest until it showed itself. Then you went for the finishing blow. This was Kaiedo’s plan in a sense for this exchange. He vanished from behind the blue wave; this time he rose straight up and pulled his spiritual pressure back in towards him, masking his location as best he could while he sought his target. When his quarry did once more appear, he struck out with a hand, and a purple bala streaked down towards the red-headed shinigami with frightening speed. If such simple attacks were going to be avoided however, he may well have to move on to making them decidedly less pleasant. He had to worry little about being discovered by Soul Society or anyone else for that matter now that Bokasu Be-ru was in effect.

Regardless of whether Dai manage to evade the bala or not, Kaiedo would move after it, rocketing from on high in an attempt to land a blow with Gekimetsu. Gekimetsu had by this point built up another substantial aura around it; it would be sharpened to active Togu(Scour) to increase the power behind his melee strike. Any damage he inflicted could be fixed, so he had few reservations about doing harm to this man. Besides, Dai had already proven that he was more durable than most of the people he had been forced to fight until now. Most would not have managed to make him release Gekimetsu in the first place, let alone survive a strike from Zenkai. Most likely this attack would fail, but it was worth trying for now. Truth be told he was still testing, probing, seeing where Dai’s strengths and weaknesses lay. Information was the most valuable resource that could be attained and stockpiled, and that was what he was after with this fight.

How far, for that matter, was he willing to push this fight? Did he want to push it far beyond this level? He ruled out Bankai once more, though the thought of moving to his mask intrigued him; how would Dai react to the techniques he had developed using the combination of hollow arts and Kidou? The general increase of strength also would prove an interesting experiment. For that matter, how far would Dai go, was a question that sat in his mind. Would he move to Bankai for a fight like this? What would his Bankai be even? That thought forced him to revisit the possibility of entering Bankai himself; did he want to try pushing the fight to that level, and when would he want to do that? He had barely begun exploring what the Shikai’s could do in this encounter, so he pushed it off for the immediate future. For now, he needed to see how Dai reacted.

”Soren Soukatsui,”

"You don't seem to learn. Blade Form." He didn't move from his spot. He let the glowing zanpakuto do the talking for him, and held it out, slicing with his arm in order to rend the attack asunder. The flames were close, licking the man's head and causing him to flinch back, if only slightly. A second or so later, and the flames disappeared.

Now, while Kaiedo worked with the speed of battle, Dai was different. While he appreciated that a battle needed a certain kind of speed to it, lest you let your opponent recover with the time that you spend recovering yourself, Daigoro used this time to his own advantage. His attack was rather weak on it's own; physically, he wasn't the greatest in attacking - scratch damage, and the like. However, when he took things slow, it allowed him to begin to understand.

The idiosyncrasies, they revealed themselves to him in this sort of situation. A smile and a sigh, and he disappeared, only just missing the bala that was fired at his position. Damn, this guy was good. His flash-steps carried him towards Kaiedo, and the redhead was suddenly met with an attack from Gekimetsu. He raised his blade in a sudden parry, letting it collide with the steel before sliding away, feeling the shock of the added power that it brought with it. What...? Why could he feel a different aura, some sort of distortion in the Reiatsu around it? Ah. He jumped back from the man, and shook his head.

"I see. You can increase your melee power, can you?" He shrugged, not really caring to find out more. In terms of what he was to gain from this... there was nothing. This man had requested the fight, he was simply fulfilling his wish, in a sense. Yeah, it was stupid of him to not be trying to understand his opponent and his style, but Daigoro really didn't consider Kaiedo a proper enemy, not even taking into account his position and the standings that he had with K-World.

But now, came the question. Dare he go any further than Shikai? He still had Bankai, and, if that failed, Triad of Souls. But he didn't want to reveal his major trump card, the truth behind his zanpakuto. So his fight would remain in Shikai, for now. The man decided against using Shunpo this time, and moved swiftly for Kaiedo. Right now, he wanted to test his strength properly. Dai's attack was low, however he had no understanding of Kaiedo's defense. Would it stack up to his? He had no idea, but he was about to find out.

The kidou was turned aside with predictable ease, but it yielded more information for Kaiedo; it was now confirmed that Dai's shikai could cut through kidou attacks, and most likely other abilities that were similar. That meant that Gekimetsu's main form of attack was more or less useless unless he was unable to counterattack. That would certainly pose an interesting issue to deal with further down the road, and was something to log for later use. He would have to take care in how he attacked from now on; in an environment such as this where there was not as much energy to absorb, it would be a senseless waste of his own energy. He would simply have to use alternate forms of offense.

His attempt at catching him with a bala proved to be just as useless as repeatedly firing off energy attacks, though Dai simply moved out of the way of this attack. The brown haired man was keeping track of these notes. He blocked the melee swing, jumping back out of range as the cutting aura came within range of him, and spared a comment about the added force. However, there was a lack of real interest in the red haired man's words. He wasn't bothering to really take this too seriously as far as he could tell at the moment. That was partially a problem in some ways, as it meant he couldn't collect completely accurate information. Perhaps he would have to put more pressure on the man if he wanted to get a better sense of what was going on. Truth be told, he was also enjoying this a little, though you wouldn't be able to tell from his facial expression at the moment; it had been a long time since he had gotten the chance to stretch his legs and test himself.

It seemed he wasn't the only one that was interested in testing his opponent; Dai rushed forward, forgoing Shunpo this time and instead just moving with natural speed, bringing a low swing in towards his body. This posed an interesting problem; he had little information about Dai's offense capabilities, both from what he had researched and what he had observed thus far in their own fight. However, he would make sure to take advantage of the opportunity if Dai was not careful. As the blade came in towards his body he brought Gekimetsu between himself and Dai's blade, the tip of the massive sword plunged into the ground to steady the block as he went in for his counterattack against his red haired opponent; he pivoted his hip and lashed out with a side kick aimed at the man's ribs. Hopefully the long coat he wore would hide the movement to avoid getting the leg grabbed by Dai. If not, his reaction would be swift; with his free hand he would unleash a low level hadou, Byakurai to be exact, at near point blank range aiming for the left shoulder that would most likely be in possession of his leg.

However, if Dai didn't snag his leg, then he continued with his original plan; leaving Gekimetsu where it st in the ground, he would shunpo straight up about 6 feet and form a platform of reiatsu in mid air so that he would be standing upside down. From this position he would unleash a different form of attack.

"Bakudou 75, Gochūtekkan," the words rung out clear in the still air. Dai was capable of cutting through single kidous such as Soukatsui, but would be able to either avoid or cut through all five of the large pillars? Would he even try or would he just rush out of the area and not risk dealing with the powerful kidou?

Should the kidou be successful, then Kaiedo would probably hold back and wait to see how exactly Dai would handle the situation; at that point there would be no more reason to continue the fight until he had managed to tear his way free from the binding. He would, however, reclaim Gekimetsu from its current position; remaining unarmed for too long wasn't the smartest of ideas; he would have left it in the first place only because it was not the typical move one would expect. Typically, you didn't just leave your weapon sitting around while you continue your attacks. However, it was that unpredictability that might make Dai fall for the attack.

If the kidou failed, then he would still reclaim his weapon, and go back on the offensive. Dai had wanted to test his defenses, but he had yet to apply enough pressure to make him remain on the defensive. Until he could manage that, then he would remain in the "driver's seat" and see where it took them. He would use the energy Gekimetsu was absorbing to amplify its attacks further; he would change things up here though. He would unleash a series of blows aimed at Dai's upper body; namely his arms and shoulders. After four or five of these though, he would unleash a new blast of energy from Gekimetsu at point blank range. Whether Dai managed to ward off this strike or not, he would rush forward once more and aim to impale the man with Gekimetsu. If he required more reason to take this fight seriously, then he would give the man all the reason he needed.

Dai's general stance on things had become more or less clear to Kaiedo by now. He was more passive than anything, taking things as they came. He would strike out to test things on his own if they interested him. However, he didn't seem the type to just jump into a conflict unless there was a reason for it. This didn't mean he could write Dai out of his considerations when planning future conflicts however. If Dai felt the reason to intervene in something, then most likely he would. If the Monsuta struck out against Soul Society, it was possible that he could become involved and pose a real problem. It was obvious that Dai was not trying too hard right now, and yet he showed more than enough power to be an issue for many of the members of the Monsuta, with the exception of himself and Hakai. He didn't know the upper ceiling to this man's power just yet though.

If it was possible, this was a man to recruit to the Monsuta's cause. While he was not a vizard himself, it didn't mean that he would be turned down if he wanted to be an ally. However, it was pretty unlikely; with the Monsuta being allied with K-World and Dai being a deserter of K-World it didn't seem like it was likely anyway. If he would not join then it was possible he could be an enemy as well, at which point the correct move would be to remove him from the equation at this moment. His overall temperament may have been figured out, but his motivations weren't and thus he was still too large a variable in the works. The sheer number of "free agents" that existed was an issue on its own; Dai was simply the first that he had managed to hunt down thus far. Whether he would invest the time to check into others was unknown as of now; Dai had a history with both Soul Society and K-World, and that was what had peaked his interest in the first place.

He had remained gone for a long time; it would probably be appropriate to return somewhat soon. He had news to report, and plans to put into motion. However he was enjoying this for now, and he did not get a chance to do that very often. He would probably remain and see how much farther this fight would go for a bit longer before he returned to report what he had found thus far. At least that was the plan. Then again, he may end up being here a lot longer if this fight forged farther down the paths of power. Neither of them had really gotten truly going at this fight just yet. Dai had a lack of interest and Kaiedo had no need to go further when he opponent had yet to present enough force to require it. Of course, he may end up with his mask if Dai continued to hold back. He had decided to see where this man's power could go, and he would see that interest through until either he was forced to leave or grew tired of this environment; he had many tricks left up his sleeve for this little game, and part of him looked forward to possibly using them.

The other had placed his blade into the ground, Kiba Ookami colliding with Gekimetsu. Dai's eyes narrowed slightly from the shock, and he attempted to pull away and counterattack once more. But that was not to be, it seemed, as he found himself suddenly pushed away by a sidekick, one that he had not seen coming. The red eyes widened suddenly, and he was pushed backwards at speed, rolling along the ground, eventually coming to a stop against a root. He shook his head slightly, groaning from the feeling. That man had to have an iron leg, he was SURE of it. Breathing out, he heard the next words coming from Kaiedo.

"Bakudou 75, Gochūtekkan," Gochūtekkan, Gochūtekkan, Gochūtekkan... Gochūtekkan! His eyes widened when the five pillars formed above him, and started to fall. The redheaded Shinigami gritted his teeth, realizing that he couldn't move his body out of the way fast enough. He could, though... He moved his right arm and his head quickly, and the pillars collided with the ground, Dai feeling them pin his legs and un-moved arm. He hissed slightly, and moved his zanpakuto in a quick arc.

"Crescent Form." His monotonous tones spread throughout the air, and the white crescent blasted through two of the remaining three pillars, leaving Dai's left arm entrapped. He grimaced at this, knowing that it was worthless to try and cut through the one on his left arm now. He struggled slightly, but couldn't break free from it. With a soft sigh, he tried to prop himself up on his feet and pull out of the Kidou's grip, still failing at it. Guh. He was at a better angle, though. He decided to try again, and brought his blade down.

"Blade Form." The single slice came through the pillar, cutting it in two and causing it to explode, freeing the redheaded Shinigami. He smiled softly, and used the remaining pillars to push himself up, moving onto a pillar of Reiatsu in the air. The man gritted his teeth and landed on a platform of Reiatsu, watching Kaiedo carefully, through narrowed eyes. It seemed that Kaiedo had also regained his weapon. Alright, time to do this. The redhead moved swiftly to attack Kaiedo, before finding the top half of his body suddenly assaulted with various attacks. Five hits, and a blast came at him from Gekimetsu.

D...damnit... He was suddenly knocked backwards at speed, sliding along the ground and staring up at the man who was bringing his sword down to impale the Shinigami in the chest. He moved his body out of the way, feeling the blade implant itself in his left shoulder. His eyes opened wide, and he shouted out in pain. With a grimace, he gripped Gekimetsu in his right hand, and started to pull up, blood flowing out from around the wound. He gritted his teeth, staring directly at Kaiedo with serious eyes. He pushed off the ground when the blade was finally out of his shoulder, trying to move himself away from Kaiedo and flipping himself back on his feet.

"Damnitall.." Red blood was flowing out of the wound on his shoulder, and dying the ground. He gritted his teeth tightly, and held the bleeding arm with his uninjured one.

"Are you... getting serious?" He chuckled lightly, and stepped back, drawing his zanpakuto in front of him with a small smile on his face. Fuck it. Would this man report to Kin? He didn't know. But for now, he didn't care. Now that Kaiedo had gotten serious, Daigoro would do the same. He would certainly do the same. He held the zanpakuto up in front of his face and smirked, dropping a word that denoted the pure power that he could now exert.

"Bankai." He quickly flicked the sword down by his side, causing the blade to extend suddenly with a burst of Reiatsu, dying Daigoro's black Shinigami uniform white, in a fashion similar to that of an Arrancar. He breathed out, and held the four-foot sword out by his side, staring right at Kaiedo with a small smile on his face.

"Runa Ookami." As he spoke those words, a large white wolf materialized itself behind him, towering over the pair.

The Bakudou found its target, pinning Dai to the ground because of his arm. As Kaiedo had expected the red haired man had managed to ward of a decent portion of the attack with his blade, slicing the kidou to bits save for the parts that had managed to actually hit. After the next exchange, he had rushed forward and unleashed the destructive wave, before impaling the red haired man with the blade. All things said, it was a mild surprise to the vizard; he had not expected so many of the attacks to land, though only the Zenkai attack and impaling thrust had done anything that could be considered serious damage. Had Dai overestimated his own defenses, or underestimated his offensive capabilities? Both were possible, but the exchange did leave him wondering just how powerful this man actually was. He held his ground as Dai stared him down as he removed the blade from his shoulder, and didn’t pursue as the man flipped back and away to gain distance and regroup. Something had changed in the man’s demeanor. He left the question unanswered.

Dai answered on his own anyway as he spoke a single word and unleashed his blade to the next stage, the final stage most said. Kaiedo stood in silence, feeling the pressure released by Dai; while it was true that there was a bankai being released the only changes that appeared were the increased length of the blade and the appearance of the large wolf-like construct of spiritual energy. A thought entered his mind; could Gekimetsu break down and absorb that wolf? It was something he could test out at a later time he supposed. For now he wondered on the effects the bankai would have on the battle. Was the wolf capable of attack? Was it vulnerable to attack? What kind of power did it bestow on Dai? These were the questions that he had been unable to answer from simply checking the stored information from K-World. It was something that Dai kept hidden it seemed then, and he was ‘privileged’ to get to see it.

The only thing that had now changed was the increase in power that Dai had put forth; now set up against a mountain of questions, a different weapon, and a large wolf it was Kaiedo’s turn to respond. How exactly did he want to do that though? He didn’t feel the need to move straight to Bankai just yet, since he had not seen what Dai’s bankai was capable of doing. To just charge straight forward into Bankai would be like handing information over to the red-haired shinigmai. Based on the fact that Dai’s Shikai had centered on mainly defenses against kidou based attacks, it was possible that the wolf could do the same, and maybe even return fire by using the absorbed energy. However, that was simply a guess on his part, but if that was the case then using bankai wouldn’t be the smartest idea. The decision made itself he supposed.

”Impressive sight,” he said aloud, his tone still as calm as it had been when he had first appeared before the shinigami. He guessed that Dai would not move onto the offensive with his Bankai, either because he couldn’t due to its abilities or because it was not his nature, so he would have to continue to be the catalyst to bring the man to action. His free left hand rose up, his fingers facing down, palm facing his face, positioned just below the chin so that the hand was upside down. A powerful, dark aura suddenly rose up around Kaiedo as energy flowed towards his hand.
”Here I come,” he said simply before he made a raking motion up his face and back; and as he did a bone white mask formed over his face.

His spiritual pressure now took on an oppressive, heavy weight to it. Anything living that had been in the area and survived until now probably didn’t unless it held a strong power of its own; those things were of no concern to Kaiedo though. Now is when things got interesting. He used Sonido to close the gap between the two of them in a moment, gripping Gekimetsu with both hands as he brought the blade crashing down, unleashing another wave of destructive energy along with the swing. In reality though, this was a cover for what he had planned next. He made a quick motion with his hand against one of the spines on the back of the blade, drawing a small bit of blood as he did so along his right index finger. He pointed that finger at Dai as energy suddenly collected there.

”Gran Rey Cero.”

The indigo and red blast lunged forward, intent on swallowing Dai up then and there. Though the attack was impressive, he had a feeling in his gut that this would not end the fight, despite the fact that normally this attack could and would do just that. Dai had proven to be a defensive person in combat thus far, rarely moving to the offense. He may have been reading too much into it, but he had a feeling that his Bankai further increased that nature and those powers. Besides, he would not force the man to reveal what secrets that Bankai held unless he pushed the man to the edge. That was what he had gathered thus far; that was what he had figured out of the puzzle of a man that was Daigoro Ito. The question was whether he was overestimating the man’s defensive capabilities too much; his goal was not to kill the man in the end, merely to understand him and decide whether he was a threat or not.

If he was so weak that he would be killed off this quickly though, then that brought up other questions; Kin had sought this man as an ally at one point. What kind of allies was Kin gathering if they could not stand up to this kind of test? In a way, if Dai proved to be unable to cope with the speed and power that he was presenting it brought Kin’s allies into question; where they suitable allies for the Monsuta? Kin himself was powerful, that much was well known. However, if he didn’t attract strong allies then it would be something to keep in mind and calculate for when the time for war and strategy came into play. This was how Kaiedo thought and this was how he viewed the Monsuta’s allegiances with other organizations; was it beneficial in the end of was it a burden that they would have to carry?

For now though, he had to focus on the battle at hand. Under the assumption that the Gran Rey Cero would be either absorbed or reflected back, he Sonido’s straight up into the air preparing to reveal one of his own secrets with devastating results if Dai was not careful.

”Hollow Art #30: Shitotsu Sansen,” he said far above the ground, tracing the triangle for the bakudou. However, instead of the golden energy that the Kidou should have been, it was an angry red energy similar to a Cero; because that’s exactly what it was. Kaiedo had researched and found a way to combine the hollow attacks and kidou into a unique form of attack that allowed him to, while his mask was active, to combine the two into things like this. He launched the attack.

The three spikes, originally meant to be a sealing technique to limit movement, now streaked down from the sky at the speed of a normal cero(which technically was slower) and would hit, hold fast, and explode if they successful found their target. If they missed, then they would simply explode upon hitting the ground. These techniques were taxing however; he would have to use them sparingly. They took up roughly double the amount of energy that the normal versions of the kidou required, and had the possibility of being hard to control at the higher spectrums of kidou. As such he usually remained at the lower numbers with these techniques so as the make maximum use of them. How exactly would the red haired Shinigmai react to this new type of attack, unseen by almost anyone from his race. He brought his sword up to the ready once more; there would be a counterattack of some kind he was sure, but what it would be he had no way of knowing at this time.

He hadn't been forced to use bankai since he had fought Ulquiorra last time. The redhead narrowed his eyes, watching Kaiedo carefully, stepping backwards slightly. The man seemed interested in watching his bankai carefully, and Dai smiled softly. This would prove to be more interesting, now that the Wolf of Finality was active and available. He held out his zanpakuto, and prepared himself to either defend or counterattack.

”Impressive sight,” That calmness that came from Kaiedo was slightly unnerving to the redhead, and he stepped back a little more, bridging the gap between himself and the wolf. Not much longer, and he'd reveal the Centurion. His eyes narrowed, and the other man spoke once more.

”Here I come,” The dark energy had formed on his hand, and he reached it up over his face, creating a Hollow Mask. So, that was his plan. Dai gritted his teeth and jumped back in an instant, his body touching the leg of the wolf and moving backwards into the form of the large white creature. As the oppressive Reiatsu suddenly burst out of Kaiedo, as did a new type of Reiatsu from the wolf. As opposed to the darkness that could be seen from Kaiedo, Daigoro's wolf sent out a bright white energy, taking on a stance where it stood on it's hind legs. The titanic creature knelt down, staring at the Hollowfied man through a roman soldier's helmet. Just in time, it seemed.

”Gran Rey Cero.” The blast was fired, and instantly went into the brightly-glowing mess of Reiatsu. A half-second later, and an explosion came out of the maneuvering Reiatsu, the Gran Rey blocked by something large. When the smoke and light dissipated, it became clear. There it was - a wolf in Roman Soldier's armor. With a large shield held out in front of it's body, and a halberd in it's other hand. Within it's core, was Daigoro Ito.

"Presenting my bankai, Runa Ookami - the Lunar Wolf, the Centurion." A small grin lined his face, as he proudly announced the name of his pure defense. When one saw this, they would be shown the truth. There was nothing hidden here, it was all out in the open. Runa Ookami. Despite the nature of Kiba Ookami, this was certainly different. This was a true defense, the halberd was a useless attacking device. However, the defense was certainly amazing.

Of course, when the Cero collided with the shield, there was certainly more than just a defense. When they collided, the kinetic energy from the Cero was converted and absorbed into the body of the wolf, adding to it's stocks in preparation. But... preparation for what? Only Dai knew - not even Kin was aware of the Final Wolf.

”Hollow Art #30: Shitotsu Sansen,” Eh? Dai looked up, the wolf's head following on in order to see the strange attack that felt like a Cero. Wha--it collided with his shield, cracking it slightly and adding some more energy to his body. He gritted his teeth and moved back, watching Kaiedo carefully with a grimace. Now that he was in bankai, he couldn't go on the offensive. So he had to block everything that he could, in order to get to the end...

Well, that certainly changed things. Kaiedo watched as both of the attacks he had launched slammed against Dai and his Bankai and seemed to be taken, shrugged off, or absorbed; which one was actually going down he could not tell from the limited information he had been able to gather thus far. Not knowing left him in a bad spot, and he was aware of that, but he couldn’t just sit around and see what happened. Well…he could, as it didn’t seem that Dai had the capability to launch any more attacks at the moment. This was something he would normally exploit, but that was when he was aiming to destroy or remove the enemy rather than simply gathering information. He doubted that this was all there was to the man’s Bankai; with the way he so zealously guarded the form as though it were a grand secret, there had to be more to it but what that something was he couldn’t figure out just by waiting. However, thus far his attacks had been more or less pushed to the wayside by the defensive armaments. Dai had withstood his Gran Ray Cero and a level 30 hollowfied kidou; he would need to bring more force to the table to make a dent, but in the real world Gekimetsu’s abilities could be incredibly draining if used on the scale he would need too. So he’d have to find a new source of energy.

Since Dai had not bothered to move and didn’t seem inclined to go on the offensive in that large set of defensive armaments he didn’t need to worry about hitting it seemed; the lack of mobility might be something to look into exploiting in a few minutes if Dai proved to be a hard nut to crack. He drew his blade back as he took aim; as he did there was a ripping sound as a large Garganta suddenly ripped the horizon directly behind Kaiedo apart. From the gaping hole into that strange other world, spiritual energy came flooding out into Gekimetsu, causing the glow to become even angrier.

”Kaijin,” he intoned, stepping forward and thrusting the large blade straight at where Dai’s heart should be; the resulting flood of angry red energy surged towards the Shinigami, taking the form of a strange creature that seemed part dragon and part lion, which opened its maw wide as it closed on the Shinigami, aiming to devour and explode on the enemy.

Ranged attacks had yet to give real results however, and so while the attack rushed towards Dai Gekimetsu set about absorbing more energy from the new battery before it slammed shut as Kaiedo moved, following in the wake of the attack to hide the coloration of his blade before shooting straight up as the attack slammed into the Dai’s location; he rebounded off of a platform of spiritual energy before surging straight down with his now enhanced speed and power, bringing the large blade straight down towards Dai with the intent of breaking that defense and inflicting a true wound on the opponent, Togu still active as Gekimetsu had made great use of the energy it had absorbed from the Garganta; speaking of which, a second one suddenly ripped open behind Kaiedo. He had not had access to enough spiritual energy up until now, but with this little trick he had learned long ago that gave Kaiedo his greatest advantage in battle; the fact that he could outlast most opponents and continue to unleash the same level if not stronger attacks as the battle continued.

This battle was probably approaching its climax, and also its conclusion at this point. Dai had moved to Bankai now, and while he had donned his mask it may not be enough to break through the defense that Dai now presented. That meant that either he would need to back down or release to Bankai himself, and he wasn’t sure how ready he was to do that. This was not the ideal place to utilize his Bankai, though the garganta trick would do wonders to lessen he disadvantage. Beyond that though, he was not sure if he wanted to reveal that particular trump card just yet to someone who he was unsure if he was going to have to fight in the future. Considering how much he had pressed Dai to reveal his Bankai, it was hypocritical to not return the favor; however, being fair didn’t keep you alive in this day and age. For now, he had launched a rather powerful attack; he would have to see how well Dai’s defenses held against close range attacks.

If the attack proved to have little to now discernible effect, then he would simply continue the assault; he would shunpo back and away from Dai before exploiting his increased speed to get behind the Shinigami, at which point he would attempt a sweep kick to bring him to the ground; it was merely a guess, but with the amount of armor that Dai was wearing now he was going to take a shot at him not being very mobile in this new form. Of course if that was the case then he would probably have an answer for Kaiedo’s tactic; he respond by simply launching a cero straight into the man’s face. It was all a matter of how the reactions timed out after that to see where the fight would go from here. He had gathered a good deal of data already on this man; probably enough frankly. However, he did not often get a chance to stretch his legs in this fashion, and not often did he come across an enemy who proved to be as resilient as Dai had thus far.

All that said though, he would soon have to return and report what he had learned thus far to Hakai as they continued with their plans. He would also need to head out and see if he could find any other new recruits for the Monsuta. The organization did not just spontaneously grow; it took work. That was something else though, something to focus on later. For now, he had an opponent he would do well to not ignore.

HOLY WAR
"The best offense... is a damn good defense..."

He kept himself in his steady stance, eyes directly on Kaiedo, a soft wind whipping throughout the wastelands and raising dust. He gritted his teeth and recoiled slightly, protecting as much of his front as he could. He didn't have anything to back up against; this meant that if Kaiedo managed to get behind him fast enough, he would be done. He was watching carefully for a few more seconds before suddenly making a 'kuh' noise. The ripping sound of the reality fabrics alerted him to it. A Garganta, ripping itself open behind Kaiedo, with powerful spiritual energies flowing out from within.

”Kaijin,” His eyes widened further as the dragon was fired from Gekimetsu. Not knowing exactly how strong this attack would be, Daigoro quickly took the second shield out of the form of the halberd, slamming it into the ground and watching the dragon collide with both shields, dissipating into nothing after exploding, and transferring more energy into the body of the wolf.

Kaijin: 480 Reiatsu Units; Split between two shields.

"Keh..." He kept in his stance, eyes directly on the man with the Garganta before him... No, the Garganta was gone, and Kaiedo was running directly for Dai. The redhead tried to step back slightly, pushing the shields out in order to protect himself. Kaiedo bounded in the air before him, Daigoro holding carefully in order to keep his defense up, Kaiedo swinging down at the shields with an extremely powerful attack, sending crackling sparks out from the fronts of the shields and transferring kinetic energy into Daigoro's wolf. He gritted his teeth and pushed back, trying to get the man off of him.

Physical Attack; Boosted: 80 Reiatsu Units; Shield A

He couldn't use Assimilation. Not now. That would be a stupid move, especially if the FeralMind took control. Shaking his head lightly, Daigoro moved backwards again, watching Kaiedo disappear with Shunpo. Where... there! The man reappeared nearby, and Dai only just managed to turn around and attempt to block, Kaiedo's sweeping kick colliding with the edge of the shield and glancing off, before a Cero was fired. He couldn't turn fast enough.... he could! The other shield collided with the Cero and took it's strength, reducing in size further... But he didn't know if he could outlast this man's strength.

Physical Attack: 40 Reiatsu Units; Shield A
Cero: 100 Reiatsu Units; Shield B

Right now, he couldn't do anything at all, only attempt to block this man's attacks; as he had no attacks of his own right now...

[R E I G N S]
Dai had proven far more resilient than Kaiedo had planned on; the red haired man had managed to block each of the attacks he had launched thus far with little to no discernible damage having been made. Dai countered the point blank cero narrowly, and the attack vanished much as how the other attacks had thus far. Kaiedo lashed out with Gekimetsu, striking with a series of high and low strikes to try and throw off the man’s defenses; the shields were proving to be more of an issue than he had anticipated, however. Kaiedo’s eyes betrayed no emotion from behind the mask, as though he was doing nothing more than reading a book or newspaper. He unleashed another wave of destructive energy at point blank range during one of the attacks before shunpoing back and away. He appeared thirty yards or so away, watching as this attack too was absorbed into Dai’s shields. He had painted a good enough picture of what was happening there, but to what end he didn’t know. The shields were beginning to buckle was the strange thing; if he was absorbing the energy then the shields should have been strengthening or regenerating, not deteriorating.

He stood there in silence for a few moments as he pondered on this question, his face hidden behind the mask. If the energy wasn’t being used to repair the shields, then it was being stored for something else.

”I assume that whatever you are storing the energy for, it has to do with when your shields finally fall. Then, let us see it.”
Kaiedo’s reiatsu changed then; it seemed to pull back towards him as a visible aura of crimson power surrounded him. He reached up, waving a hand past his face as his mask vanished. He wouldn’t need it at this point; the power suddenly increased, the wind kicking up about the vizard. He brought up Gekimetsu, the blade facing out towards Dai. He wrapped his left hand around the front of the blade, his eyes still as calm as before.
”Bankai.”

For a brief moment, Kaiedo’s power vanished, the crimson aura disappeared as it was sucked into Kaiedo’s being, and everything went silent. Then there was a roar and the sound of breaking earth as his power returned, the man vanishing in and explosion of crimson. A wave of sand rose to the sky and rushed ahead of the pressure wave. Kaiedo’s reiatsu crushed down upon the area, oppressive and vast. Then the dust and sand was forced away by a pulse, revealing Kaiedo and his Bankai. His arms had changed the skin now black in coloration with strange markings on them. His shoulders had spikes now as well. All around his arms, red energy spiraled and coursed. He flexed his right hand, making a fist a few times. How long had it been since he had actually used this form? He would answer that question later; he had a more pressing one to answer for now. He looked back at Dai.

The tearing sound of a garganta rung out once more as the gaping black hole appeared behind Kaiedo. The sounded didn’t end with that though; slowly, a second one opened nearby, then a third. If Dai had been able to move or attack, Kaiedo wouldn’t have had the time to do this most likely. He held up his right hand; the energy suddenly flooded forward and solidified, taking the shape of a handgun. No more words were needed as far as Kaiedo was concerned. He pulled the trigger; ten or so projectiles shot forth at high speed, each with roughly strength just under a cero but above a Bala. These were meant as a diversion as Kaiedo finished something far more destructive. Kaiedo vanished, shunpo carrying him up and above Dai’s current position, his right hand extended as brilliant the brilliant purple light issued forth; Kaiedo unleashed this amplified Gran Rey Cero without fanfare or warning. It was his intent to find out what lay at the end of Dai’s Bankai and this energy absorption he had been using thus far. This cero was the strongest single attack he had unleashed thus far; augmented as it was in this state, the Gran Rey Cero easily held three times the strength of the one had attacked Dai with.

Provided Dai was still standing after the two attacks, Kaiedo would continue the assault on the red haired individual. He shunpo’d forward back to Dai, forming another energy construct as he did; this one was simply a copy of Gekimetsu’s shikai in appearance. He slammed the blade into one of Dai’s shields with the intent to shatter it. In his Bankai state, Kaiedo’s strength had received an increase, bringing his strength beyond what it had been while his mask was on. There were several ways that this could go; Dai could produce some kind of counter attack that he had yet to see, which could potentially be dangerous to him at this range. Alternatively, Dai could simply hold out against this attack, and the ones before it, in which case he would need to continue to apply pressure.

If the second was the case, then Kaiedo had a surprised for the red haired shinigmai. He’d slam his fist into the shield, and activate his energy absorption ability in an attempt to break down the shield and use it for his own purposes. He wasn’t interested in breaking down the man or even his entire Bankai keep in mind; he simply wanted one of the two shields out of the way. Beyond that, he was interested in how exactly Dai would react to such a tactic being employed. Should he be successful in breaking down some or all of one of the shields, he use the majority of the energy for another cero at point blank range , while using the rest to construct a thin barrier around himself to ward off enough of the blast to allow for a retreat.

If he was unable to begin breaking down the shield, however, he’d go with an altogether different tactic; he’d lash out with a kick against Dai’s shield to shove him away while he overcharged the energy construct, making it unstable. He’d then throw it just above Dai before shooting it with a Bala to make it explode, while unleashing another bala at Dai directly. He’d then retreat back to the center of the three Garganta’s; the attacks used a great deal of energy, and rather than using too much of his own he’d stick to absorbing as much energy as he could from Hueco Mundo and the in-between worlds.

This was as far as he would go he decided; this should be enough to see and learn everything he wanted about this man’s Bankai and powers. There was no reason to escalate to his mask at this stage; he was not interested in killing the man, merely seeing where Dai’s limits lay. He had determined this man was not the type to strike out against the Monsuta if he was not attacked first. Some intelligence would have to be gathered to determine what things Dai cared about so that they were not accidently targeted. This man was not exactly someone who the Monsuta would want to deal with if they didn’t have too. He held no significance to the organization or its members unless he was standing in their way. That was something that could be avoided, however.
