Ada, the Nomadic Girl

Personality: As part of a nomadic tribe with ancient traditions, Ada is a survivalist while an alien to modern society. She was notable for sharing the same personality traits as the tribesmen she followed; stubbornness, sheepishness when introduced to topics about civilization and prone to say something that the modern folks would deemed remarkably stupid. Traditionally, she does the gathering, cooking and crafting and possible child rearing while she believed that the men should do the hunting and manual labor. When brought into a topic that was the opposite from that belief, she chokes up and get really sheepish before distancing herself from the person who brought it up. When something that would freak out an average social girl appears before Ada, she would shrug it off like it is nothing, but often times spirit scares her more than anything on Earth because they are invisible forces that killed her mother and the other women, leaving her being the only one left, which also demoralized her into depression to think of being the only woman in the tribe. However, the elder, someone she cared for with unmatched love like a girl to her grandfather; she even referred him as her grandfather. To any stranger, she can be shy and would seem ready to retreat back to her tribe at the first sign of trouble. Humorously to modern folks, she has a habit of calling things that move, “creatures” or “monsters” followed by a description about what it is that she sees, showing how uneducated she is about the society. Her best topic was cooking things that the society would not normally eat, but often times, her cooking received praises before, even with hard meats.
Appearance:
Like her fellow tribesmen, her attire was crafted by herself from white cotton. Her veil and hood covered most of her face while often times, her eyes are hard to see through the hood that shadowed over her eyes. When she looked up, it is clear that her eyes are pairs of topazes while showing her fears deep within her soul. Her hair flickers in and out of sight within her overshadowing hood as light mahogany and cut short for the purpose of not having it being a nest for all sorts of small things she would encounter with the tribe. Though she is allowed to take off her hood and veil, she preferred to keep her face hidden so she would not shame herself by being in fear. Her robe was worn and torn like the others, but it was longer than the rest while narrowed with a sash around her waist. Though the robe was sleeveless, her shawl is what protected her arms and hands from the harsh environment. Her sandals are simple like the rest, but judging by the stitches, she did a lot of running before, which would be obvious due to her timid nature.

Ada does not have any powers to defend herself, neither she does see spirits.


Background: She was the second youngest in the group of thirty-three men with her exclusion since she is the only woman who survived so far since the attacks by invisible beings; her father and mother are part of the casualties. Ever since the death of the last adult woman in the tribe, she has no mother to be reared by, so everything to her was done on her own experimentation while learning the traditions from the elders. One elder was the only one she could go to for advices and he was the only one she would open up to; she called him, “Grampa.” Despite living with people whom she could stay with, she has reoccurring nightmares about the morning when her parents are slaughtered by nothing, right before her eyes. That morning left her traumatized and shy to the other tribesmen. She still serves them meals through her cooking, but to the tribesmen, she will not recover if she remains like that. Enter her “Grampa” as the elder helped her cope with the loss. She is still shy and timid of things like moving objects and eerie feelings, but she is able to speak a sentence (even if it was fragmented) thanks to the elder. When she begins to take notice of Een, the youngest boy in the tribe, she felt more timid than before and often run away when if Een was just walking by. She has a hard time understanding why she was running away from him alone when she could stand her fellow tribesmen. It does not add up for her and she felt like dying whenever she think about why she was afraid of Een while feeling like she wanted to be close by his side. She is a nomad and she does not rely on other people to survive...it is her nomadic ways and the traditions are important for her as it is important for Een.
