Takehiko Kuchiki

Takehiko had gotten the memo that he would be fighting today. Which somewhere along the lines they forgot he was medical. He sighed softly rubbing the back of his neck as he felt the arctic chill. The agreement had been for them to not use anything but natural skills. Which worked fine since he didn't have anything aside from that. Takehiko hadn't anticipated himself being chosen for this. First, there were far more suited fighters like Mirajane and Arkin who could do this. But no for some reason they had to drag the guy who preferred mending things to fight. Takehiko was the one Kuchiki who didn't care about rank or promotions. Doing the job well was all that mattered as he considered his method carefully. He'd finished training with Momo Hinamori at the very least. He spoke within his inner world as he decided to gain Akuma's attention now. "Going to need your help I imagine brother. This isn't my forte on a good day." He said softly as he considered his options carefully.

He had a limited supply of energy to manage here and this girl was stronger than him. Forgetting the fact he was meant to be a healer and not draw blood. Takehiko's documents would mark him as such but there were certain things about him. How much risk would he need to show in this regard? Takehiko didn't know if relying on his brother was the best course of action. Quincy and hollows didn't really get along well. He learned a couple of spells form Momo that would help. He'd need to use every trick up his sleeve in order to do it. But if the goal was to make them get along better. Well, he could manage that he guessed in the long run. Takehiko frowned at how this pitch was sold to him about a vacation. They didn't mention a frozen wasteland where your piss would turn into ice soon as it left your body. If he was still being punished for previous mistakes it did feel like it. Takehiko brought his hand down now thinking carefully on how to handle this situation. Strategically speaking the ice was solid and would make for a good battleground.

Nothing around for them to endanger, though he didn't know again why he was considered a danger in this. The only option was to plan his actions carefully this time around. Bringing a hand to his chin Takehiko reached out catching snow in his palm. Feeling the frozen liquid melt as it touched him. This would be interesting for them both he guessed. Now, all there was to do was to wait calmly for them to arrive.

Takehiko Kuchiki; the man was very... pretty, was her first impression of the robe-clad man she had been told to meet. All things considered, not the worst impression to make, but for the reason they were here.

Sylvia felt the snow and ice crunch noisily underneath her boots as she walked out upon the ice. Bolstered against the cold of the antarctic, she had modified her usual outfit to be suitable for the weather. Her leggings were thick, and the hybrid bomber jacket and trench coat sported fur lining that had been further bolstered with reishi for better insulation. The sleeves nearly hid her leiden hant and bangle from view, but the equipment was there, just as always. All of it adhered to the Quincy's traditional colors, white and blue, but with just a little gold added here and there.

She came to a stop just out of arm's reach of the man she was to spar with. Their superiors each had deemed this a good way to test the other, and to strengthen the bonds between their groups. To tell the truth, she had scoffed at the idea when she was told. However, orders were still orders, and she couldn't disobey them.

"Takehiko Kuchiki?" The Quincy spoke with a heavy German accent, and had noticeable trouble with the pronunciation of the man's name. She did her best, though. "Sylvia Brauer." She neglected to offer a hand to the man as she introduced herself. There was something... off about him, and her growing familiarity with that feeling was making her uneasy. Still, she needed to be professional.

"I haffe peen told ve're to fight as zough zis vere real compat. Is zere hanything I schould know?"

His head snapped to attach along with his eyes. Azure eyes moved up and down for a moment. Analyzing what was before him carefully this was the girl in question. Appearances were deceptive as Ulv had taught him along with many others. He listened calmly closing his eyes before inhaling. He didn't much care for combat or the act of fighting. Violence in itself wasn't something generally ventured towards. But when asked to do so he had little choice. "It is very pleasant to make your acquaintance Sylvia Brauer. " He gave a small bow bending slightly at his middle. Though not very low it showed some manners from him as he understood her to be German. Thus the thick accent which came from it really. Did he tell her oh by the way I am a medic being forced into this? No, it didn't seem relevant to the problem at hand. Anything she should know aside from the fact this was under protest. Takehiko opened his azure eyes and shook his head slowly from right to left. Not offended by her not wanting to shake his hand in this case.

"I fear not, nothing of note please the first move is yours. " He said as he stood calmly awaiting her move now. Takehiko had strategies he could use in most cases when it came to it. Kido was a rather advantageous weapon but it did serve a problem here. She had a bit more in the tank to expand then he did really. One couldn't just expect him to jump forward with a smile swinging at her. He'd rather avoid using his sword if at all possible as he considered options for offense and defense. Ice was too thick he'd surmised for them to break at this juncture. He certainly didn't have the power to shatter through it in this regard. Perhaps she did as he waited to see what she chose to do. Would she rush into melee and fight or perhaps withdraw a distance. Those were the choices that would define his strategy going forward. Kaido wasn't really suited to combat nor was he really. Though he guessed at the very least he could make a personal vow.

Regardless of the outcome, he would treat the injuries present. Takehiko didn't mind that much as it made him happy. He didn't draw his sword or reach for that. As he believed at this point a sword wouldn't help him really. He'd need his kido and wits to move forward. Though he could calculate about ten or so moves she could make. He'd need to see how exactly Sylvia fought and conducted a battle. Was show one who took to range like most Quincy? Maybe she was a rarity among her people who fought melee. Though it would require some time to think of proper strategies or possible outcomes. He believed it would be a good idea to be ready with a solid barrier. That would give him a hand at least he could combine it with a special chant. It would let him go through it a bit quicker instead of simply chanting one first. Mixing the chant together would provide him some versatility to his combinations. He suspected that it would only work once 0or twice maybe depending on Slyvia.

First things first, she supposed the stranger wasn't stupid. It had been an underhanded tactic to try and gleam information from him before the fight had begun, but even in failure, she had learned something about the man whom she would be sparring.

He was at least mildly intelligent.

"Danke." Sylvia nodded to the offer to take the first move, and calmly turned and walked away a good twenty paces before she was satisfied with the distance between them. Her senses remained sharp all the while, though tiring herself with hirenkyaku just to begin the fight seemed counterproductive. So, at a sizeable distance away, she turned back to face her opponent, and extended her ungloved left hand outward to catch the magnificent longbow as it appeared within her grasp.

In her gloved right hand, a thin blue arrow appeared that was knocked slowly, and she pulled back until the string was taut as could be. Her green eyes watched for any reaction from the man as she lined up her shot. There would be no tricks in the first move. No gimmicks. A basic attack at his front would reveal how he fought. For truly, he was no Hollow, and she had little information to act upon, yet.

Okay, so maybe she did try one dirty trick. With naught but a smirk at the last second, she angled her shot down and released her missile on its course, a would-be crippling blow to the man's knee.

So her tactic, of course, was to withdraw from a distance. She'd likely turn and fire an arrow at him he guessed. He could have used a barrier here if he wanted. But that would provide more information about his tactics. Takehiko watched her carefully hoping his prediction was correct. He'd likely only get one chance at this move. Speaking to himself he began the Nijū Eishō or Double Destruction Chant. Something defensive and an offensive would do nicely. Mixing the incantation as he watched her now getting ready to move. He surmised that she would predict his next move very much so. Beginning the chant as she revealed her bow he moved his mouth but said no words allowed. Muttering the incantations as he mixed them together for this effect. Now as the arrow flew true and towards its course, he stepped forward performing a Hoho. But upon activation, he vanished with another burst having added a step in the middle of performing it. His uncle's technique which was a mouthful as he finished the incantation he arrived behind her.

Bakudo Number 7 Gyokuseko o hogo and Byakurai were the kido he'd selected in this case. Gyokuseko o hogo was a rather special one that formed a barrier. A green panel five feet long emerged to defend him from the attack she may have sent. While his other hand directed a burst at the female's figure now. The Byakurai was more potent than average due to incantation being used. Takehiko didn't stop there however as he knew he had little time. He had to keep on the offensive by some manner of speaking. This opening move was more of a directional action to decide how she would act. Both of them were digging for information on the other. He needed to alter his strategy from here and keep her guessing. His azure eyes watched how she moved to get ready to add Zanjutsu to the mix. He wasn't all that good at much beyond kido but he needed an opening. Something to provide a decent chance to wrap things up quickly. Slowly his hand drifted down towards his sword hilt.

Making ready to make his move when she went to move. He could keep up with her he imagined with the speed of that step. Though he did have an alternate thought in mind. He could execute an Utsumi and to throw her off her game. It wouldn't be clean as his uncle's and would only work once. Similar to the incantation but hopefully once was enough. That and his other ace in the whole being Akuma. But he'd rather avoid bringing his brother into this matter. Takehiko stood ready to act behind his panel barrier at the moment. Prepared to move in a moment he felt something off. The question remained of what it would end up being though. Would it turn out to be merely an attack or hit and run? Had she predicted his move before he arrived with the bakudo barrier? Everything was subject to interpretation. Giving her the first move helped him a little bit as reactive was more his skill set. Being forced to open would be difficult as he considered the temperature one more time before dismissing it.

Nothing he had could alter this battleground in his favor or hers. So it seemed unlikely that he would be able to finish this in that sense. He'd noticed the arrow was gone, which indicated it pierced that ice. Or it had vanished he suspected the ladder of the two of course. She was strong especially at this type of combat.

He was also fast.

The Quincy's power acted out of reflex, carrying her away and to the man's side with a similar burst of incredible speed. Without a sound, she reappeared another twenty paces away, a second arrow already knocked and pointed at her opponent. The billowing of her coat as it moved with the wind revealed a small hole bore through by the man's magic, though thankfully, she'd avoided getting burnt, herself.

Her eyes furrowed against the sight of the green barrier, and her bow moved ever so slightly. Without the noisy incantation of the Shinigami's spell, she poured more reishi into the space of her arrowhead, and loosed it far left. The missile would never strike Takehiko, but once it was opposite to the man from his barrier, it would explode with a powerful gust that she hoped would knock him into his own wall.

From there, Sylvia ran in a wide circle, avoiding the patch of shattered ice that her Himmel Wand had created. She'd loose arrow after arrow in his direction, with the aim of pinning him down in the cage of his own making.

As he thought she was able to avoid it rather skillfully, revealing them both to have the same skill. This wasn't a game of cat and mouse though for either of them. Neither one of them were quite the mouse due to their speed. Though he guessed he was the mouse in this case. Byakurai had been rather easily avoided by her so that made the situation difficult. What could he do to catch her off guard at this moment? Those arrows didn't appear the same to his eye at the very least. That could work as it would provide a decent cover for the use of it. Though it would be close he'd not get away without being hurt this time. Troubling and for what exactly was he doing this? If someone told him Kuchiki pride they'd have a somewhat correct answer though a scowl at it. So he had no choice in this instance but to use that technique in order to gain some edge. She'd provided him an opening of sorts with that powerful attack. Utsusemi was the name of the technique and while it wasn't going to be perfect.

It would do in this situation as he saw her attack coming and was ready for it. Appearing to be blasted into the barrier as the explosion hit. Only a moment later the top half of his uniform appeared instead of him. It was damaged but his speed had allowed for a daring escape. Though not without price his right side of his body bled as he moved. Dripping down his arm as he could only sigh a bit at it. Extending his hand outwards an orange thread shot from his palm as she'd dashed towards where he'd gone. The kido net was a specialized net that was made from kido to be very strong. But this was only part of his plan as his right hand was bruised and cut. Shards of ice had sunk into his shoulder as well as he sighed a bit. Gripping the net he decided to release a rather risky attack on her. Tsuzuri Raiden was his next move which whatever he held got hit with a discharge of lightning. Takehiko's arm hurt as he released the technique onto the female now. Hoping he'd at least of gained something for his trouble in all this.

He'd wasted a lot of energy performing this strategy though he had little to work with. One more would have been nice as the net would implode with the massive discharge of electricity through it thus hitting that inside of it. Though he couldn't be sure she was really in the thing though either. Reaching up he pulled the ice shard from his shoulder wincing. Tossing the broken shard to the ground as blood trailed down his body. Takehiko had gotten rather grievously wounded on that. Though on one hand, it had allowed him to execute his uncle's move. On the other, it hurt like hell and he doubted she'd sit still while he mended it. Options were pretty limited in this regard as he considered his energy now. He didn't have any other really fancy tricks up his sleeve. He had enough in the tank for a bit more of this game they were playing. But he guessed he couldn't really fight that way could he? Takehiko gently pulled his zanpakuto out as he thought about his last move.

One more move was left to him in this case if anything else went well. The thread of the kido net was sticky and easy to get caught and tangled up in. But if it had failed he'd used a lot of resources for nothing though that was fine.

The Quincy woman had already fired several arrows into nothing before she'd realized her opponent's ruse, and by then, it was much too late. The top half of his robes had been pinned to the green wall, torn and abandoned, and his voice drew her attention in the direction she still ran.

Her eyes found his half-dressed form just in time to spot the orange net coming in her direction, and to hear the same word as before, "Hadō." Her momentum was too great to stop so suddenly, nor could she maneuver around him. Another Himmel Wand at such close range would only injure her, as well.

So, she did none of those things. As the net neared her, Sylvia felt her own blood and flesh flood with reishi. It quickened her heart, and stiffened her for the pain to come. Just before the net had touched her skin, thin blue lines raced up her cheeks from her neckline, and she winced.

"Aaaggh!" She screamed as the electricity hit her, dulled but not stopped by the power of her Blut Vene. What was only seconds of pain felt like hours, and she collapsed to the ground as her muscles convulsed against her will. She had been tased before. This was much worse.

When the pain had passed, she opened her eyes to the sound of a sword being drawn. Her muscles and joints ached, but she supposed without her Blut, things would've been much, much worse. Her green lenses rolled up to spy the man standing over her, and she feared the worst for the blade in his hand.

Her own fingers flexed beneath the cloth of her leiden hant, and several nigh-invisible strings of reishi attached themselves to the Shinigami and his weapon. With a quick flick of her wrist, she sought to toss him away and create enough distance to, perhaps, get the net off of her before their bout continued.

Takehiko's breathing was labored as he'd just executed too very tiring techniques in a fairly rapid period. He didn't notice the strings connecting to him as he was flung. He felt his lungs gasp for more breath as he landed skidding backward. The lingering net dispelled as he closed his eyes now. He didn't have much in the tank left as he heard a protest. "Come on kid, you can't expect me to sit and watch you get beaten up." Gently he touched his arm as he healed the gash slightly with a green aura. "You asked if there was anything else you should know, well two things come to mind...First I am a healer first, combatant second." He said through breathes before regaining composure. His arm wasn't fully mended though it would work now. He'd need to keep his formation tight yet fluid. They both had to fight in this capacity here. Slowly he walked to her not readying himself at all. He decided how he would end this now with a small smile on his face. He wasn't alive when the conflict happened with the others.

But one thing was clear that the Quincy didn't deserve what came to them. But Takehiko slightly apologized to his Uncle Byakuya. He couldn't be the one that brought a victory to the Gotei. He just didn't have the skill to do so in any sense. Was he going to acknowledge his loss right now? No, he had something important to do first. Something he swore to himself he'd do before anything else. His body hurt as did his arm yet. Takehiko didn't know what they thought he was going to do. He could blow himself up with her in a kamikaze attempt. But that wasn't his intention as he didn't radiate violence. Takehiko's aura was peaceful if the girl could pick up on it. She'd see a determination and almost dogged amount of it as he walked to her. Hoho wasn't an option at this junction for the boy. He'd used up far too much energy for that to happen. It was what they got for putting a healer out here to do dirty work. He'd wounded someone so it only made sense to fix it right?

His zanpakuto almost dragged upon the ground as he felt the exhaustion from all of this. Fight more conservatively he could hear the lectures in his mind now. Did he have any more fancy tricks up his sleeve? Takehiko had more or less used them all in that regard. Before he winced finally coming to a stop unable to get much closer. He had to be ready to be shot at this point since she could obviously pump him full of arrows. His eyes glanced around for whoever was observing this thing. Trying to figure out what angle they were coming from at this moment. If only he could be rude and give them the finger. But that would bring another scolding and lecture he did not need. Organizations needed to stop bonding by beating one another over the head. Violence begot violence whereas kindness would beget kindness. Though he didn't know if she would accept it as he held his arm's to both sides. Leaving himself open as he started to walk again now.

A small giggle passed her lips as she heard the man land some unknown distance away. No matter how old she got or how dire the situation, that always made her laugh.

With a heavy groan and sigh, Sylvia pushed herself up onto her hands and knees. Despite the valiant defense put up by her Blut, her body screamed in protest at even this much. She fought to keep her Blut active for just a little longer, enough to roll herself over and sit in a more dignified manner. Through the small glance in his direction, she assumed the Shinigami was done fighting, and gladly obliged.

"Vell, vu're not pad at zee latder." She spoke up against the droning wind. One arm cradled her sore stomach, and the other propped her up from falling again. Her bow had long since returned from whence it came. She supposed she might have still continued, but as her adrenaline slowly lessened, she felt more aches and pangs surface from the aftermath of the man's last attack.

"Erbärmlich," she muttered under her breath as the blue lines receded from her face. A single attack had nearly broken her. If she'd continued, it would've been without her Blut Arterie to land a killing blow. If this had been live combat, she might have even needed to use Letzt Stil, and if that'd failed, too, then she'd be dead.

Truly pathetic.

Sylvia breathed deeply another sigh. On the bright side, the sunlight stretched across the glacier was pretty.

"Zit. Ve're done." She called an official end to their bout as the cold licked at and numbed her aches.
